Everton took full advantage of Sunderland dropping into the Championship back in 2017 when snapping up Jordan Pickford in a £25m move.
The man born in Washington had only just cemented his status as the best young goalkeeper in England with an impressive 2016/17 campaign despite Sunderland going down, averaging more saves than any other glovesman in the Premier League that term at the age of just 23.
Now, as Leicester slip closer towards League One, Everton could be about to seize on a similar opportunity and act as vultures regarding Abdul Fatawu.
Should Jordan Pickford now be considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers? 🤔
Gary Lineker is adamant he should 👀
Everton could get a bargain in Abdul Fatawu
Everton are keen to sign Fatawu this summer to bolster the wide attacking options for David Moyes – and a deal looks on even if Leicester somehow avoid dropping into League One with four games remaining.

The Telegraph believe Leicester plan to sell the Ghana international regardless due to financial issues, which caused the Foxes to lose six points in February.
Fatawu – who Gary Lineker has compared to Bukayo Saka – is a top talent, and with TEAMtalk claiming a deal could be done for around £20m this summer, the Ghanaian has the potential to be a bargain acquisition for Everton, just as Pickford has turned out to be.
The 22-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best in the Championship, netting nine goals and assisting a further seven in 41 games so far this season.
At that age, and with 11 Premier League appearances under his belt already, Fatawu could quite easily become a pillar at Everton, just as Pickford has with 352 appearances for the Toffees and counting.
Should Leicester fall into League One, a deal could even be done for less than £20m, as reports claim the former Sporting CP winger is eager to leave and return to the Premier League.
You can only name one! Which one takes top spot for you? 🤩
It could prove to be the bargain of the summer for whoever snaps Fatawu up, so hopefully, Everton win the race for his signature amid reported competition from Sunderland themselves.
