David Moyes had to deal with a unique situation at Everton back in November.

Fans were left bemused after Idrissa Gueye slapped Michael Keane during a 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, a decision which saw the Senegal international receive a red card after just 12 minutes.

The Everton duo shook hands and moved on, but Moyes may have a similar situation to sort out if The Friedkin Group successfully manage to sign Christantus Uche from Getafe.

Everton interested in Christantus Uche

Sportsboom now claim that Everton and Newcastle want to sign the Nigeria international, after Crystal Palace decided against triggering the €15m (£13m) purchase option in the terms of his loan move.

Uche has struggled for action while on loan at Selhurst Park this season, receiving just 159 minutes of action in the Premier League under Oliver Glasner across 14 appearances.

One of those 159 minutes came during a 2-1 loss to Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium back in October, and the Nigerian still could have received a red card after bizarrely punching James Tarkowski in the stomach (via We Are Palace).

Sportsboom believe Getafe are ready to reintegrate the 23-year-old when he returns to Spain this summer, and while a permanent sale could happen, they have no interest in sanctioning another loan after seeing Crystal Palace depreciate the value of their asset.

This is by no means a reactionary decision by the Toffees.

Everton also wanted Uche last summer before he agreed to join Crystal Palace on loan, so the fact the Toffees remain keen on the man born in Owerri should make him feel desired, possibly giving Moyes the edge over Newcastle in the battle for his signature.

Don’t hold back, let us know who you want gone this summer 👋

Capable of playing practically anywhere down the middle of the park besides defence and in goal, Uche would also bring plenty of versatility to the Hill Dickinson Stadium should a move materialise.
