Everton could now keep Jordan Pickford this summer as Manchester United chase Inter keeper Andre Onana instead.

The ‘exceptional’ Jordan Pickford has consistently been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, sparking fears that the Toffees could lose their key figure.

However, as per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag’s side are now in negotiations with Italian giants Inter for Andre Onana.

Confirming this via his Twitter account, Romano said: “Negotiations between Man United and Inter continue for Andre Onana – after £34m bid plus £5m in add-ons rejected. Deal absolutely on.”

Everton keeping hold of Jordan Pickford would be best signing of this summers transfer window

Manchester United signing Onana would be a huge boost for Everton in their hopes to keep hold of Pickford this summer.

Indeed, the England international recently confirmed his desire to remain at Goodison Park, indicating that he would only leave if the club received an offer that they could not turn down.

However, should one of his long-time admirers Manchester United secure their deal for Andre Onana, Jordan Pickford could well line up once again for Sean Dyche’s side next season.

The 29-year-old is without doubt one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and his performances over the past two seasons have helped maintain Everton’s top-flight status.

His penalty save in May’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium was the difference between Everton staying up and the Foxes going down, as the Toffees survived by a mere two points.

Retaining a quality figure and an on-the-pitch leader will no doubt be a huge boost to Sean Dyche, who will be looking to rebuild Everton’s depleted squad this summer.

The Blues will want to avoid a third successive relegation scrap, and keeping Jordan Pickford at the club will be a key factor in achieving that.
