A sense of relief has emerged at Goodison Park after Everton were awarded four points back from the Premier League.
The outcome means Sean Dyche’s side have moved up to 15th place, five points clear of Luton Town, who occupy 18th spot.
Of course, the situation is far from ideal, but the fact that points have been returned significantly boosts Everton’s survival hopes.

Attention will now turn to the second charge lodged against Everton.
The Premier League charged the Toffees and Nottingham Forest with breaches of their Profit and Sustainability for the season ending 2022/23.
And there is a genuine possibility of the outcome coming after the Premier League season has concluded.
Everton: Premier League AGM twist emerges
According to talkSPORT, the two clubs may not know their fate until after the Premier League campaign.
It’s believed a hearing for Forest and Everton’s PSR breaches is scheduled for some point in March and that an independent commission must confirm a punishment no later than April 8.
Issues could emerge if the two clubs lodge appeals regarding the punishments handed out.
The Premier League’s AGM would have to confirm the two clubs’ appeals and this year’s AGM is set to take place five days after the end of the 2023/24 season.

Therefore, league positions could remain flexible after the season has concluded.
The whole situation has been a mess from start to finish. The Premier League should have viewed Everton’s appeal as urgent.
Furthermore, the initial ruling should have been looked at thoroughly, which probably would’ve negated the need for an appeal process in the first place.
Now, it seems we could be set for round two.
Hopefully, Everton’s six-point deduction acts as a precedent moving forward, so there should be no need for any appeal process after the next verdict is announced.
From the Premier League’s perspective, they will hope for the relegation battle to be set in stone, meaning any points deduction will have little impact on the league table.
