Everton are a side buoyed by their recent form, as they seek to surpass all the hurdles before them to come out unscathed.
Having somehow avoided the drop in their last two seasons, Sean Dyche had set out to ensure that this campaign was devoid of any danger at all. And, until they were docked ten points, he was going about that task with relative ease.
However, things are never to be that easy at Goodison Park, and such a punishment has plunged them right back into the relegation zone.
Saturday’s win over Nottingham Forest provided another brief boost, before the U21s got in on the act on Monday night with a 5-0 drubbing.
With a squad brimming with talent, the thought process will naturally turn to who is ready to step up and make a dent in the senior squad. With Anthony Gordon their latest success story, a pathway to the first team has been paved.
Having loaned him out to Preston North End, his return saw him ready to make that step up, earning huge praise before leaving for a cool £45m.
In Lewis Dobbin, lightning could be set to strike twice.
How good is Lewis Dobbin?
Having kickstarted that aforementioned Monday night rout with an arrowed finish after cutting in from the left, the tricky attacker has been slowly making a name for himself on Merseyside.
After all, just last campaign saw the 20-year-old shine with Derby County, posting an impressive 11 goal contributions throughout the season including a stunning goal in their FA Cup win over Torquay United.
Now back with Dyche’s squad, his handful of Premier League appearances is indicative of the Everton winger being deemed close to ready for the first team.
Perhaps now marks the perfect time to take the final step to ensure that by sending Dobbin on a similar Championship loan spell akin to Gordon’s. Rafa Benitez had already praised him nearly two years ago now too, noting: ‘He is very bright and has the pace and ability.’

The Newcastle United man would fail to score with the Lilywhites, but it clearly went a long way towards fast-tracking his development.
Should it have a similar effect on Dobbin, who seems to boast a technical brilliance beyond Eddie Howe’s main man, then Dyche could either gain a fine asset to utilise or ship him on for another huge fee.
