Everton expected to accept cut-price deal for ‘outstanding’ player in January

Everton will have one eye already on strengthening in the January transfer window, with one potential exit already being talked about at Goodison Park.

All Sean Dyche will be thinking about right now is how his side can improve on their first positive result of the season after getting the better of Crystal Palace.

The Toffees have had to rely on Dwight McNeil to come up with the goals recently, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling to find his touch in front of goal.

It’s been claimed that Newcastle have been keeping tabs on Calvert-Lewin but nothing has gone further than that ahead of the January transfer window.

However, it appears as if Everton could be forced into accepting a lower price for the Englishman in January if the latest report is anything to go by.

Everton expected to accept cut-price deal from Newcastle for Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract is set to expire in June of 2025.

This puts Everton in a bit of a sticky situation. A January sale looks likely, but the potential price may not be as much as he may have fetched in the summer.

He’s managed a couple of goals and an assist in six games so far this season, which isn’t a terrible record but he’s been outshone by McNeil on the goals front.

Now, it appears as if Everton have accepted that they’re going to have to let him go for a reduced price.

According to Alex Crook on TalkSPORT, Everton’s valuation is expected to plummet when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year.

It’s stated that Newcastle United are considering reviving their interest in Calvert-Lewin, who has been hailed as ‘outstanding’.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s season to date

Calvert-Lewin was given some advice by Alan Shearer after his performance against Aston Villa, as he told the striker to use his body more like Erling Haaland does in situations.

Shearer also slammed Calvert-Lewin’s wasteful miss in the same match.

It’s not been all negative for Everton, as he looked a real handful against Bournemouth, but he doesn’t look like the same player that was once scoring for fun at Goodison.

A cut-price deal isn’t the ideal situation for the Toffees given he’s English and has proven himself at times in the Premier League, but some money is better than no money.
