Everton fans are unanimous in their decision on Vitaliy Mykolenko after it recently emerged Napoli put in a bid for the defender.

It came to the surface that Napoli offered £26 million for Mykolenko in the summer, which was swiftly rejected by the Friedkin Group.

The left back won’t be signing a new contract with the club before January, as it appears the Ukrainian is weighing up his options.

His current deal expires in June 2026, and David Moyes could be assessing his future behind the scenes, with Mykolenko expected for contract talks.

Everton fans have given their honest verdict on what should happen with the defender now that he’s in his fifth season with the club.

Everton fans agree that Vitaliy Mykolenko should be sold after Napoli offer was rejected

Even though the club decided to keep hold of the 26-year-old, it seems like the Blues fanbase doesn’t agree.

Commenting under the original article on Everton.News’ Facebook, some supporters are convinced it’s time for Mykolenko’s exit.

One fan commented: “Getting 2 many injuries now, let him go,” with another adding: “Average full back if the price is right and he wants to go, get rid.”

Another expressed their worries about the Ukraine international, stating that Everton “should sell him [because] he doesn’t fill me with confidence.”

One Toffees supporter went on a passionate rant about the defender: “Never a Premier League player. Very surprised he gets, or got, many, many chances at our club [because he is] mediocre at his very, very best.”

That fan continued: “As Evertonians, I wish him well. But we need, and we are doing, our rebuilding of this most famous club of ours, and we need to sell our mediocre players. Sorry for being so blunt.”

Despite Mykolenko enjoying a solid campaign last season, that sentiment was echoed by other fans, with one writing: “It’s [definitely] time for him, and the club, to move on.”

Another supporter compared the Ukrainian to past Goodison left-backs as their justification for moving him on, writing: “I think we’ve been spoiled with left-backs over the years – Baines, Digne, etc. Mylo can’t cross a ball to save his life.”

That fan continued: “Defensively, he is sound, but you need more than that to be a decent fullback in the Premier League these days.”

Fans clearly thought the bid should have been accepted, even despite Mykolenko thriving under Moyes.

There is a current dilemma in the squad, which could see the full back forced out of the lineup, as his loss might not be the end of the world.

David Moyes could have the perfect solution with James Garner at left back

If Mykolenko isn’t playing to the standard of fans anymore, there is always the option of James Garner.

Garner has been ‘fabulous’ at left back already this season, and it also offers the chance to integrate Merlin Rohl in midfield.

This could be the perfect solution, as Garner has arguably been one of Everton’s best players this season, as he’s flourishing this campaign.

With Rohl impressing in training, this is the ideal answer to fitting both in the team, whilst an injury-prone Mykolenko doesn’t get a look in.

It could be a masterstroke from Moyes if he can pull it off, which could lead to the Ukrainian’s future being a key topic come January.
