Everton fans are looking forward to a new era after The Friedkin Group finally completed their takeover of the club on Thursday.

After years of struggle under Farhad Moshiri, Everton have new owners and the mood around the club has totally changed.

Incoming executive chairman Marc Watts said this morning: “Whilst we are new to the Club, we fully understand the vital role Everton plays in local culture, history, and the lives of Evertonians here and around the world. We are deeply committed to honouring this legacy while contributing positively to the community, economy, and people of this remarkable city.”

Everton are 15th in the Premier League and are currently just three points above the relegation zone.

But there’s newfound optimism with The Friedkin Group at the helm, and fans hope there will be a radical change in fortunes in the coming years.

It remains to be seen how long the new owners will give under-fire manager Sean Dyche. But seemingly The Friedkin Group are set to stick with him and director of football Kevin Thelwell for the time being.

Some people are already thinking about which players TFG could – or for these Everton fans, re-sign.

It will be fascinating to see which players will sign for Everton in The Friedkin Group’s first transfer window.

As it’s a January window, fans will need to tailor their expectations.

It is notoriously difficult for clubs to sign players in the January window, but Everton could certainly do with making some additions.

And some Everton fans would like to see Richarlison re-signed by TFG.

Could Richarlison actually re-sign for Everton?

Since leaving the club in 2022, Richarlison has retained a good relationship with Everton fans.

This was evident when Richarlison walked over to the travelling Everton fans in the game with Tottenham in August.

Richarlison is said to be open to leaving Tottenham, and The Friedkin Group would likely endear themselves to the Everton faithful pretty quickly if they managed to re-sign Richarlison.

He was a cult hero at Goodison Park, and his return would certainly restore a feel-good factor for many.

That said, he’s struggled with injuries since leaving Everton. For Spurs, he’s missed 30 games with injuries so far, so that could be off-putting for the new owners.
