Everton have lost the latest Merseyside Derby match 1-0 at Anfield.
The Toffees’ unbeaten run in the Premier League is over, as they came up short against the Reds.
Everton started the game well, defending resolutely and offering a real threat on the counter.
The visitors were perhaps slightly fortunate when James Tarkowski’s challenge on Alexis Mac Allister only warranted a yellow card, with VAR deciding there was no serious foul play.
Ultimately there was a lack of quality in the final third for Everton.
Diogo Jota gave Liverpool the lead in the second-half and from that point the hosts, frustratingly, were relatively comfortable.
The scoreline would perhaps have been very different had Beto converted one glorious chance he had in the first-half.
He was a handful for Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, and at one point he got the better of the Dutchman and raced through on goal.
But Beto could not finish past Caoimhín Kelleher, striking the near post.
Everton fans react to Beto’s performance against Liverpool

On social media tonight, Everton fans have been discussing Beto’s latest performance.
Several have been left frustrated by the Guinea-Bissau international’s inability to be clinical in front of goal.
The 27-year-old has now gone four Premier League games without scoring, and it seems the purple patch is well and truly over.
However, some praised the ace for being a real handful in the game and making life uncomfortable for Liverpool’s two central defenders.
@ceejay_efc said: “Beto casually bullying The Werlddddd class centre have the werldddd has ever seen.”
@Everton_Extra added: “Beto’s been absolutely brilliant there by the way. Yeah maybe he should score but he’s rattled them yet again, his hold up plays been brilliant. Should be ahead. Keep it up.
@jyates198: Everton have been brilliant . VVD and Konate can’t handle Beto.”
@andycov_93 said: “Beto is having these on toast So unlucky to hit the post after brilliant work, and already had a cracking finish ruled out for a right offside Van Dijk will be having nightmares about him if this carries on.”
@birch1988 said: “Tell you what, van dijk has been shown up badly by Beto tonight.”
@danny_efc6: “Good half Better chances, if only we had pace on the counter from wide areas Credit where it’s due think Beto, given what he’s dealing with, has been superb.”
Beto did well vs Liverpool, he must improve his finishing
Beto really did play well tonight against two top defenders. He also came extremely close to breakin gthe deadlock, but was offside by a hair.
That one-vs-one chance will be what people focus on. It is just a case of Beto becoming more clinical now, and finding the net more regularly.
He had that purple patch a couple of months ago and now needs to rediscover his mojo.
It’s possible his confidence will take a hit after another game without a goal tonight while missing a big chance in the process.
Hopefully, an arm around the shoulder from David Moyes can keep his spirits up, and he can get back on the scoresheet again in the next game.
