Everton fans all in total agreement on whether Seamus Coleman should get a new contract

Seamus Coleman is without doubt, one of the best signings in Premier League history.

That’s not an overstatement by any means, considering Everton paid just £60,000 for a right-back who’s now made over 350 Premier League appearances.

In that time, Seamus Coleman has established himself as a true fan favourite among the Goodison Park faithful and, indeed, the captain of the football club.

However, the veteran defender is at a crossroads in his career as he enters the final few months of his contract.

The 36-year-old, who’s made only a handful of appearances this season, is set to become a free agent at the end of June.

Everton fans are all in total agreement on what the club should do about Coleman’s situation.

Everton fans agree Seamus Coleman should stay but instead as a coach

Replying to the post below, Everton supporters were all in agreement that Coleman should stay at Everton but instead in a new role as a coach, thus ending his playing career.

@ClaudeBydicat commented: “We need him at the club and he deserves to stay on in a coaching or ambassador capacity. But another season in the first team is not the mentality we will need to succeed in future.”

“Not as a player but I do think he has all the attributes to be a good coach so I’d hope he gets a position somewhere within the academy or Moyes team,” @phillyt1878 added.

“Would love to see him stay at the club in some capacity but as for a playing contract, I’m unsure,” @Matt_S_1982 said.

@merseyfit posted: “Should be nowhere near the starting 11! Could always offer him a coaching position.”

“Like Baines, let’s move him into a coaching role at the Academy level. Teach those boys to play with passion for the shield,” @BrotherEric16 commented.

@GreeneyPau20116 said: “I personally love Seamus but he knows himself his playing career is at an end but I hope he stays on in some capacity?”

Coleman has already had a taste of coaching

Coleman is evidently past his peak and injuries have plagued his season, so maybe the time is right to move on.

A coaching role in the academy would seem like the logical next step for the Everton legend, who has already experienced a similar role.

Coleman took the reigns from Sean Dyche when he was sacked in January and managed one game as an interim alongside Baines.

The duo coached a 2-0 win against Peterbrough United in the FA Cup, so with all that said, all roads lead towards a coaching role for the Republic of Ireland international.

Moyes has already installed Coleman as a motivational coach.
