Everton star Thierno Barry finally bagged his first Premier League goal of the season against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon in a huge 3-0 win.

Thierno Barry signed for Everton in the summer from Villarreal, aiming to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin after his contract expired at Goodison Park.

However, it’s been tough for the Frenchman so far under David Moyes, only registering his first shot on target in the Premier League in midweek against Bournemouth, but that has now been added to by actually putting the ball in the net against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon – his first strike for the Toffees.

Fans have been vying for the striker to get off the mark all season, and they’ve now shared their adulation for the 23-year-old star on social media after finally kickstarting his tally.

Everton fans are over the moon for Thierno Barry after his first goal

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) during the game, Everton fans noted Barry’s attitude after scoring, seeing him beaming with pride after finally getting on the scoresheet.

One fan said: “That smile, goal means the world to him! Get in Barry”, whilst another wrote: “Buzzing for Barry there, so glad he’s finally got his goal”.

A third fan posted: “Get in Thierno Barry!! You could see the relief with that goal. Hopefully a big weight lifted from him now and we start to see more goals. Huge credit to Ndiaye though for making the goal”, and a fourth put: “Really good first half. So so happy for Barry”.

HE’S FINALLY GOT HIS GOAL! It may have taken 17 appearances, but Thierno Barry is up and running for Everton 🔥

Fans noted the sound of the crowd after the relief off both Barry and their shoulders with the striker rolling the ball home on the stroke of half-time – seeing the Hill Dickinson Stadium burst into shouts for the defender.

One supporter was overjoyed, writing: “That roar when Barry scored was pure Everton”, and a second fan published: “So buzzing for Barry what a guy.”

Another fan rounded up the applause, stating. “What a moment for Thierno Barry there, just look at the reaction of the other players too, they’re made up for him. Let’s finish these off now, Blues.”

Although it’s easy to forget that Barry only has one goal to his name, the strike will do his confidence the world of good.

Everton will hope Thierno Barry can fire them into Europe after a fourth win in five

The 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest momentarily put Everton fifth in the Premier League.

Regardless of cup competitions, that would be enough to hand Everton the chance to play Europa League football for the first time in eight years.

Thierry Henry is right, Everton need to give him time…

UEFA’s new co-efficient rules handed the Premier League an extra place in the Champions League for the current season, and that could also benefit the Toffees. With Newcastle benefiting from that, having finished fifth last season, a fifth-placed finish for David Moyes’ men could see them qualify for the Champions League for the first time in over two decades.

Thierno Barry could well be en route to being the man to fire Everton into the Champions League spots, or at least into Europe – but whether he can is another question.
