Everton fans saw a rare start in the Premier League for midfielder Carlos Alcaraz in Tuesday’s win over Bournemouth, with David Moyes forced into a starting XI reshuffle.
Everton were looking to record back-to-back away wins under David Moyes for the first time this season, and just the third time in his second spell at the club, against a Bournemouth side who were faltering under Andoni Iraola.
Jack Grealish saw the win over the line with his late deflected strike, which came from Carlos Alcaraz’s pass to lift the Toffees into the top half of the Premier League table.
But despite his contribution, fans were not best pleased with the former Southampton midfielder for a poor game surrounding the assist.

Everton fans were not happy with Carlos Alcaraz’s performance against Bournemouth
Everton fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to talk about Alcaraz’s performance.
And, despite grabbing the assist for the opener, most of the discourse was negative surrounding the Argentine.
One fan opened the discussions, saying: “Alcaraz showing everyone why he never gets a game here”, whilst another posted: “Alcaraz is weak as anything forever knocked off the ball”.
More supporters looked to ask questions over why he never featured, with a third fan stating: “I see why moyes doesn’t play alcaraz. Useless”, and a further Toffee wrote: “The idea of Charly Alcaraz starting has proven better than the actual implementation of it.”
The Hill Dickinson faithful didn’t stop their complaints there, with another supporter adding: “Alcaraz…you’re not that guy pal”, with more stating his performance was jaded, publishing: “Tired and disjointed so far. Alcaraz not lighting it up, dwelling on the ball and getting caught often.”
Finally, whilst other players took the brunt, Alcaraz was again the target, with a fan tweeting: “Worst I’ve seen Ndiaye, and as for Alcaraz I prefer not to speak”, and an eighth fan wrote: “Alcaraz has just put in an all time disaster class.”
Those comments were perhaps harsh given he assisted the winner, and at the end of the day, it’s three huge points for David Moyes’ men, who went ninth by the full-time whistle.
Carlos Alcaraz will almost certainly play for Everton against Nottingham Forest
Whether Everton fans liked Alcaraz’s contribution or not, they will likely have to see him in action at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon against Nottingham Forest.
Tim Iroegbunam’s fifth yellow card of the season means that he will be suspended for the visit of the Tricky Trees. With defenders Michael Keane and Seamus Coleman out injured, that has forced midfielder James Garner into right-back for the time being.
Coupled with the absences of Idrissa Gana Gueye through suspension, and Merlin Rohl through injury, Alcaraz will play in the centre for Everton on Saturday without doubt.
That’s perhaps not a bad thing given his assist for Jack Grealish, but fans will be hoping he can turn his sloppy play into a more refined performance against former boss Sean Dyche.
