Everton’s under-21s were in action against Doncaster Rovers last night.
The Toffees reserves travelled to South Yorkshire to take on the fifth-placed League One outfit in the Vertu Trophy.
Unfortunately, it ended in defeat as Rovers managed to score a 94th-minute winner to make it 2-1 on the night.
However, there were positives to take from the game as summer signing Adam Aznou played 80 minutes, helping him get back up to full fitness.
One Everton youngster also really impressed and fans are beginning to get really excited about his potential.

Everton fans blown away by Justin Clarke
Justin Clarke was really impressive in pre-season for Everton’s first team, and he’s continuing to shine for the under-21s this term.
The 16-year-old is playing well above his age group but is already becoming a talismanic figure and was again on the scoresheet against Doncaster last night, netting his third goal of the season.
Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to his performance and sensational left-footed finish.
“Justin Clarke wow, player there,” @CharlieBarnicle posted.
“Justin Clarke gonna be some player,” @LittleObby added.
“Justin Clarke is going to be going on a January loan to the championship,” @getyercoaton explained.
@HJJ92_ added: “Great finish! If the goalie had got in the way he’d have ended in the back of the net as well.”
Justin Clarke recently signed first professional contract
Everton moved quickly to tie Clarke down to a professional contract after impressing David Moyes in pre-season.
After penning the new deal, he spoke to the Everton website about his experience with the first team.
“I’ll always be confident, and I’ll never abandon my gameplan,” the teenage winger explained.
“That’s just me. I had the backing of the coaches and the players, so I knew I could do what I normally do.
“I think it was a good experience. It’s such a good group with lots of characters, so it was great for me and my development to be learning new things.”
Looking ahead to this season, Clarke added: “I just want to be the best I can be. That’s all I can be, really.
“I’m finding it good so far. The Under-21s are more experienced and it’s a good coaching staff.
“I don’t want to rush anything, but I’m looking forward to the season.”
