Everton supporters have chosen their own Man of the Match after TNT Sports awarded it to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after the win over Burnley.

A huge sigh of relief was felt at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday evening after Everton ended their three-month run without a win on home soil.

Dewsbury-Hall was one of the goal scorers on the night, with a number of players impressing for the Blues.

The 27-year-old was awarded the Man of the Match title by Martin Keown during TNT Sports’ commentary from the Liverpool docks.

One Everton supporter on TalkingPoints said: ‘Dwight McNeil. He was back to the McMessi we know & love!!’

While another added: ‘After calling him all season, McNeil for me.’

McNeil was a shock addition to the starting XI at the weekend, but the 26-year-old has done more than enough to cement his spot in the side over the two games.

An Everton fan over on our Facebook page said: ‘McNeil would get my vote, with Branthwaite a close second.’

‘McNeil was great tonight,’ added another Everton supporter.

The midfielder is surprising a lot of fans, with one saying: ‘Thought McNeil had a great game tonight. Fair play to the guy.’

One other Everton fan simply said: ‘McNeil with Idrissa Gana Gueye a close second.’

McNeil is earning his spot at Everton again

Keown was impressed with Dewsbury-Hall, but the reception that McNeil got as he was withdrawn spoke volumes.

It has undoubtedly been a difficult period for the 26-year-old after his proposed move to Crystal Palace fell through in the eleventh hour.

Having had a few weeks to get himself right, McNeil has returned to the Everton side and made a real statement.

With Jack Grealish sidelined, Everton need players like McNeil to step up as they target European qualification.

Questions were being asked as to whether Everton should keep McNeil over the winter window and there are now fans delighted that he is still around following his displays in the last two games.
