Braiden Graham is perhaps the most exciting talent in Everton’s academy.
Everton have some really talented players coming through their Finch Farm academy, but none more so than their under-21s striker Braiden Graham.
Graham has netted 17 goals this season and David Moyes has been assessing him in first-team training recently.
In fact, the 18-year-old has been named on Moyes’ bench a couple of times this term, so perhaps a senior debut is looming.
With that said, Toffees supporters have been debating on TalkingPoints whether he should be given a chance in Moyes’ side.
Where do you stand on Braiden Graham… would you give him his debut? 🎯
Everton fans are in favour of giving Braiden Graham his debut
Everton fans were asked on TalkingPoints whether Graham should be handed his senior debut and many were in favour.
There were a few concerns about whether he’s too lightweight, though.
- “He looks a bit lightweight but there’s no hiding his talent, so why not.”
- “Yes surely he’s better than Barry or Beto. He’s worth trying up front. Give him a chance.”
- “Nowhere near has the physique for the Premier League yet. Would get absolutely bullied. But there’s no denying he can finish. Could have a real chance in a year or two.”
- “Remember who gave a 16-year-old Wayne Rooney his opportunity!
- “Yes definitely better than both Barry and Beto.”
Moyes has already admitted Graham needs to develop physically before he’s ready to operate as a number nine in the Premier League.
“I think Braiden is doing well. It’s probably at the moment that we need him to build up his physicality and his all-round speed,” the Scotsman said last month.
“We’re pleased that we’re getting some of the young boys a chance to be around it. We’ll see how they continue.”
Braiden Graham is doing things Beto and Thierno Barry could only dream of… 😳
Braiden Graham could make debut as a winger
To be a centre-forward in the Premier League, you do have to be quite physical and be able to contend with 6ft 5 centre-backs aerially and in ground duels.
That’s probably asking a bit too much of Graham at this stage of his career, so it’s much more likely that he gets his opportunity as a winger in the next year or so.
Graham has been impressing in first-team training, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if Moyes deems him ready to operate on the flank or perhaps even as a second striker behind Thierno Barry.
Whilst Barry and Beto continue to falter, the Toffees youngster has a better chance of making his debut.
