Everton fans had a lot to say about Lee Dixon after comment during England vs Albania

England defeated Albania 2-0 in their eighth and final World Cup qualifier to finish top of Group K.

Thomas Tuchel’s England side won every single game, scoring 22 in the process and not conceding a single goal.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was excellent during the qualification campaign and actually broke a long-standing Gordon Banks record.

Pickford recorded nine consecutive clean sheets for the Three Lions, surpassing Banks’ record of seven, which he achieved during the 1966 World Cup triumph.

Pickford was in action against Serbia in midweek but was finally rested against Albania this evening.

Although, that didn’t stop Everton fans from making a valid point about the Toffees shot-stopper and Lee Dixon.

Everton fans notice Lee Dixon’s Jordan Pickford double standard

No matter how well Pickford performs, it seems Lee Dixon always finds a way to have a pop at the Everton goalkeeper.

Dixon had another rant about Pickford during the Serbia game, and Toffees supporters are starting to become really irritated by the television pundit.

It was Dean Henderson who stepped in for Pickford tonight, and fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point out a double standard they noticed in Dixon’s commentary.

@stekellyefc pointed out: “Pickford makes a save on his six yard line, Lee Dixon: ‘I don’t want my GK coming that far out to make a save.’ Henderson narrowly gets the ball, then gets the man sliding 30 yards out of his goal, also Lee Dixon: ‘Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.’ Agenda obvious.”

“Double standards by Lee Dixon. Henderson coming all the way out of his area to make a tackle was brilliant, but when Pickford left his 6 yard box the other night he said he doesn’t like his goalkeepers leaving their line to make saves,” @toffeecrunch25 added.

“If Pickford makes that tackle, guaranteed Dixon says “what’s he doing that far out?” F—— idiot,” @bingus2013 commented.

@Peter_Cubbin said: “Pickford is an excellent goalkeeper whether Lee Dixon likes it or not.”

Jordan Pickford to return fresh for Everton vs Manchester United

Pickford will now return to Finch Farm ahead of Everton’s away clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old will be a bit fresher for next Monday, with David Moyes’ side hoping to secure back-to-back wins either side of the international break.

The Toffees beat Fulham 2-0 before the break, but will now be up against a much better and more confident Man United side.

Ruben Amorim’s men currently reside in seventh after winning three of their last five games, drawing the other two.

Victory for Everton could see them move back up into the top 10.
