Everton are already on the lookout for a new striker ahead of the summer transfer window.
David Moyes admitted he’s been disappointed with Thierno Barry and Beto this season, as they’ve quite simply not scored enough.
“Well, I think we need more goals from them. I don’t think the numbers you’re talking about are the numbers I want,” Moyes said in Monday’s press conference.
Is Moyes still underappreciated by Everton fans for the job he’s doing? 🤔
As such, Everton are eyeing a move to sign Alexander Sorloth from Atletico Madrid, and supporters have given their thoughts on the potential transfer.
Everton fans don’t want to sign Alexander Sorloth
Replying to the TalkingPoint below, Everton fans explained that the potential Sorloth signing is too big a risk.
Remember him at Crystal Palace… would you like to see Sorloth at the Hill Dickinson Stadium? 👀
- “No, we should look closer to home, we’ve had plenty of strikers from overseas and not had a good one yet.”
- “No, he’s 30 and while at Palace he scored 1 goal in 20 games.”
- “He would be very good, but he’s playing in Spain. Barry was good in Spain and then he came here and is, well, not as good to put it nicely.”
- “Why does Moyes insist on wanting to sign players from his ex-failed clubs where he was sacked? Moyes needs to go.”
- “Yes, he is an imminent threat every time he runs at defenders, set pieces, corners etc.”
There was one supporter who was all for Sorloth, but clearly, many are doubting whether strikers from Spain can cut it in the Premier League.
Barry has struggled to adapt since joining from La Liga outfit Villarreal, with the intensity and ultimately the increase in level proving to be a challenge.
However, Sorloth is a totally different calibre of striker to the Frenchman. The 68-cap Norway international has been prolific for several years.
The 30-year-old is also performing at a huge club in Atletico Madrid, so he’s already well-equipped for the scrutiny.
Sorloth has proved his worth at the very highest level in the Champions League, too.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| La Liga | 25 | 9 | 0 |
| Champions League | 9 | 5 | 1 |
| Copa del Rey | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| Supercopa | 1 | 1 | 0 |
The former Crystal Palace frontman has netted five goals in nine outings in Europe’s most elite competition this season, so it’s unfair to compare him to Barry.
