Everton were treated to the best possible outcome during the game against Newcastle on Sunday, as Anthony Gordon missed a penalty at Goodison Park.

The Toffees will be disappointed not to have picked up three points, as they did have their chances, but it’s another point on the board and a step in the right direction.

Sean Dyche is turning things around with performances starting to improve and combinations starting to work for Everton.

However, it wasn’t all smiles as referee Craig Pawson and VAR were launched into the limelight after deciding not to award Dominic Calvert-Lewin a penalty.

Calvert-Lewin saw it after the game and still said he felt it was a stonewall penalty.

That wasn’t the only moment of madness, as Anthony Gordon missed his penalty, which led to several Everton fans taking to his post on social media after the game.

Anthony Gordon had a day to forget at Goodison Park, with his penalty miss going down a treat with the Everton fans in the Gwladys Street end.

Jordan Pickford outsmarted Gordon by going to the one side he knew the Newcastle attacker hadn’t gone to in his last two attempts.

Outside of his penalty, there wasn’t too much that went on involving Gordon.

He had 48 touches, a passing accuracy of 81%, made one key pass, one cross, won six duels, lost possession 11 times, was fouled four times, made one tackle and one successful dribble.

Anthony Gordon took to social media after the draw with Everton.

This led to a number of Everton fans posting their response on X, with all of them bringing up the same thing.

“Did you not try to shy away for West Ham away for Frank Lampard’s last game as Everton manager when he as a manager needed you most? Nah?”, @Danny_EFC6 said.

@DFan104 wasn’t happy: “Are you kidding? Where were you when you didn’t turn up for training & were a no show at West Ham? Joker.”

@FlewittClint stated: “Let’s see if the @NUFC fans are respectful when you down tools again to get your next move.”

@sophefc2023 mentioned: “You shyed away from West Ham away under Lampard.”

“Good Luck Anthony. It’s nice to see that forgetting your city and your roots and laughing at the fans who paid your wages for the first 15yrs of your time playing football has paid off so handsomely. You have traded a sleeping giant for a bunch of nobodies and won’t win one thing”, @TransfersToffee said.

@efcthomas commented: “What planet are you on? You downed tools in the last few months at Everton in order to secure your move to Newcastle.”

@mcmahon1878 said. “Make sure you don’t refuse to train at Newcastle.”
