James Garner has emerged as the player that Everton fans most want to see feature next season.

Liverpool Echo gave their readers the chance to say who Sean Dyche should sell or keep during the summer transfer window, with over 10,000 people offering their opinions.

The results of the survey showed that Garner was the one player most supporters are eager to see, with close to 96% of fans voting to keep the midfielder.

Garner joined Everton from Manchester United in a £15 million deal last summer but struggled to make much of an impact straight off the bat.

The 22-year-old didn’t make his debut in the Premier League until he faced his former club in October, before he suffered a back injury that kept him sidelined until February.

Garner went onto star heavily under Sean Dyche and impressed in the full-back position as the Toffees avoided relegation to the Championship.

The midfielder is likely to be given the opportunity to shine from the start of the campaign this time round, which should delight supporters.

As well as Garner, the survey revealed that fans are also keen to keep hold of James Tarkowski, Nathan Patterson, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil, who each received 95% of the vote.

James Garner has earned his praise for Everton performances

Despite missing out on a large chunk of his debut season at Goodison Park, James Goodison’s performances following his return to fitness have caught the eye.

Sean Dyche declared his admiration for the midfielder back in March, though he suggested he didn’t want to rush into things after only making two appearances in the Premier League with the Red Devils.

“He’s still learning about the Premier League,” Dyche said.

“He is a new player to it. From what I saw, and I did see him quite a bit at Forest, he’s got a good engine and running strength, he can strike a very good ball and he is calm in possession and he will cover the yards.

“I think he is a very good player and I think that now that he is fit again and hopefully stays fit he will continue to sharpen through the training we put on and the day-to-day work that we do.”

Dyche wasn’t the only one excited about Garner, with Micah Richards impressed with his performance as they beat Bournemouth on the last day of the season.

Speaking to The Money Night Club, the former defender said: “Garner’s a flair player, even though he had to do a job on the wing. But he’s a tidy player. I really like him.”
