Everton could be handed a boost in their bid to keep hold of Jordan Pickford as Manchester United allegedly look elsewhere.

The Red Devils are considering their options and talkSPORT have reported that they have revived their interest in Bayern Munich’s Yann Sommer.

The Sun recently claimed that Pickford had become a top priority for Manchester United this summer amid speculation around David de Gea’s future between the sticks.

However, it is said that Everton would only part ways with the goalkeeper for £30 million, so Erik ten Hag’s side are now looking at alternatives.

Sommer is reportedly ready to quit Bayern Munich if he doesn’t replace Manuel Neuer as number one and United could go back in for him after expressing interest last summer.

The Swiss international joined the German giants for only £8.3m in January and is thought to be earning significantly less than his Everton counterpart.

Everton shouldn’t sell Jordan Pickford to Manchester United at any price

Jordan Pickford has got stick from rival fans for years now, despite his heroics for England.

However, the goalkeeper has easily been one of their best players in recent years and the squad would be preparing to compete in the Championship if it wasn’t for him.

Manchester United’s potential pursuit of Yann Sommer would be ideal for the Toffees as they shouldn’t be tempted into parting ways with Pickford.

Given his importance to the club, £30m sounds like a bargain for a player that still has years ahead of him.

Sean Dyche’s side wouldn’t be able to replace the 29-year-old with anyone better for less than his price tag, so it makes no sense to let him leave.

Everton will have to hope Pickford doesn’t demand a summer exit, especially if they are set for another campaign fighting relegation.
