Everton have been left ‘surprised’ by what Manchester United have just done

Everton have enjoyed a fine summer thus far, retaining the bulk of their prized assets whilst adding three new faces to the squad too.

Things are looking up at Goodison Park for a pleasant change, with this particular window ushering in a hopeful revolution of newfound sustainability and prosperity.

The transfer of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa is set to fund the bulk of these grand plans, and will almost definitely strengthen their position in one other important saga too.

Everton left shocked by latest Manchester United transfer plan

Everton have been consistently left stunned by Manchester United for some time now, with this summer one of embarrassment for the historic club.

After all, seeing two bids come and go for Jarrad Branthwaite, pitifully below the asking price, the Toffees have now twice laughed them out of the room.

And yet, the response from rival fans was one of bemusement. Why would little old financially-ravaged Everton not want to offload their prized asset for half of the price tag?

People lambasted the fee they were commanding, and yet, they have gone and made their fanbase look even more foolish with a £52m bid for the even more unproven Leny Yoro.

Now, the Manchester Evening News has revealed Everton’s thoughts on the matter: ‘Branthwaite, 21, is valued at between £70m and £80m by Everton while the 18-year-old Yoro is joining United for an initial £52m.

’It is understood figures at Everton are surprised United have agreed a steep fee for a defender three years younger than Branthwaite who is out of contract next year, has no international experience and plays in Ligue 1.’

Jarrad Branthwaite’s valuation takes another boost

Well, Manchester United have arguably just set a fresh benchmark for Everton to follow with this latest bid, who were already using Josko Gvardiol, Wesley Fofana and Harry Maguire to guide their valuation.

After all, both of their initial offers came under the £52m they plan to spend on Yoro, a player with even less experience than Branthwaite.

The Frenchman is clearly an impressive talent, and with 60 senior appearances at just 18 years old, his future is bright.

But, in the Toffees’ 22-year-old centre-back, the Red Devils sought to gain an English left-footed titan with pace, power and aerial dominance in equal measure.

And, he has far more senior appearances to his name across multiple clubs, including for PSV in the Dutch league and plenty in the Premier League too.

So, if this is what a teenager with just a few senior appearances is worth, then Branthwaite’s price tag has just skyrocketed further.
