Everton have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign ‘energetic’ Championship star who plays like John McGinn

Everton may be closing in on signing one midfield from France, but Sean Dyche will likely not say no to the opportunity to bolster his ranks for a cut price.

Such is the hectic and unpredictable nature of Deadline Day, so many deals offer themselves up to clubs, and it is just about singling out the ones that actually make fiscal sense.

The Toffees have not been too clever in this regard under Farhad Moshiri‘s rule, but Kevin Thelwell has made great strides towards greater sustainability, with Everton now set to welcome Orel Mangala on a shrewd loan deal to prove that point.

However, he may well be overruled by manager Sean Dyche in this particular instance, as a chance to reunite the 53-year-old with one of his favourite former Burnley players has presented itself to them.

Everton offered the chance to sign Josh Brownhill

That’s according to GIVEMESPORT, who suggest that the Toffees are among a three-team continent who are seeking to return Josh Brownhill to the Premier League.

Set to battle with Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham for his services, a mere £5m is said to be enough to tempt Burnley to part ways with the 28-year-old.

The report reads: ‘GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed that Brownhill is being offered to Premier League clubs ahead of the transfer deadline, and he is available to leave the Clarets after their relegation at the end of last season.

‘There is a belief that a deal can be struck for the midfielder to the tune of a cut-price £5million fee, with the Clarets approaching various clubs over his potential exit – and whilst plenty have been made aware of his situation, Fulham, Everton and Tottenham are believed to be amongst the clubs that are aware of his current situation in case they want to make a move to strengthen their midfield ranks with just hours left in the window.’

What could further entice Dyche, who will know him well, is the comparisons he once earned to Aston Villa’s John McGinn, as Lee Hendrie once noted: ‘Josh Brownhill, I think he is a fabulous player, I really do. Out of [Sander] Berge and him, I’d take Brownhill all day just because Josh Brownhill reminds me of John McGinn.

‘He’s very energetic, he’s very neat and tidy on the ball, he gets up and down the pitch well and you know what you’re getting when you’re getting a player from Burnley, Sean Dyche, what he expects.’

Sean Dyche’s Burnley reunion at Everton continues

If Brownhill is to make Merseyside his new permanent home, he would mark the latest in a long line of former Burnley players to have traded Turf Moor for Goodison Park.

Naturally, Dyche stands out among all else, as the greatest manager in the club’s history.

He oversaw the development of Dwight McNeil whilst in Lancashire, and was then reunited with him at Everton, alongside both James Tarkowski and Michael Keane.

So, to add Brownhill to the mix would see Everton start the new Premier League season with two centre-backs, a central midfield and a winger all formerly of Burnley, with the former Clarets boss in charge too.
