Including all the permanent signings that Everton have made this summer, they have spent approximately £41m.
However, that figure is inconsequential when amortised and offset by the mouth-watering £50m sale of Amadou Onana.
At least one major sacrifice was always expected from Goodison Park, and thus far his exit is proving the lesser of numerous evils who could have fallen foul to their financial distress.
And yet, despite having already spent big in response to this sale, a sensational double swoop could still be in the offing before the window slams shut.
Everton show interest in two new transfer targets
Having first offered an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton contract situation, TEAMtalk then turned their attention to who the Toffees might be seeking to bring in before the summer window slams shut.
Having already enjoyed a busy window, it might shock many to see that a double swoop could now be on the cards, with the report stating: ‘As previously revealed, Everton are also keen to sign a new midfielder and Strasbourg star Habib Diarra is on their shortlist.

‘TEAMtalk can confirm that the Toffees made contact with Strasbourg earlier this week to enquire about the talented 20-year-old.
‘However, Everton were informed that it would take a bid of at least €35m (£30m) for the French club to consider a sale. This comes as a major blow as that is out of the Toffees’ price range.
‘L’Equipe claim that the Everton are considering a move for 22-year-old Reims midfielder Amir Richardson as an alternative to Diarra.
‘TEAMtalk sources have since confirmed Everton’s reported interest in Richardson is genuine.’
Habib Diarra and Amir Richardson would revolutionise Everton
Were Everton to somehow complete this double swoop, bringing in two young, physical, technical midfield maestros in, it would surely revolutionise Sean Dyche’s midfield in a way he likely never even thought possible going into the summer.
After all, in Richardson, they would be gaining a true powerhouse, with the 6 foot 6 star boasting immensely quick feet and silkiness for someone of his stature.
He breaks up the play remarkably well in the engine room, yet then has the class to distribute and drive forwards, with football analyst Ben Mattinson writing: ‘Amir Richardson. 6’5” freak athletic, technical profile. Moves with unheard of mobility for his height. Special profile.’
Meanwhile, Diarra is far more attack-minded, but is not one to shirk his defensive responsibilities either.

Last season saw the 20-year-old record four goal contributions in Ligue 1 from midfield, maintaining an 86% pass accuracy alongside 0.7 key passes and 3.4 ball recoveries per game too.
To combine his offensive prowess with Richardson’s height and intelligence could prove revolutionary for the Toffees, who would have secured the future of their midfield for the next decade.
