Everton are interested in signing Kerem Akturkoglu.

That’s according to TEAMtalk, who have reported that the Toffees are one of six Premier League teams monitoring the winger.

Akturkoglu joined Galatasaray from 24 Erzincanspor in 2020 and has been excellent ever since. The forward was the Turkish Super Lig’s top assist provider last season (11) and was also named in the Team of the Season.

After claiming 34 goals and 37 assists in 135 matches for the Turkish giants, Akturkoglu has now begun to attract interest from across Europe.

The report claims Everton were joined by Aston Villa, West Ham, Brighton and Nottingham Forest in sending scouts to watch the 24-year-old in recent weeks, as he helped Turkey secure a place at the Euro 2024 finals. Previous reports have also suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Akturkoglu.

Considered as one of the ‘top talents’ in Turkey, the report claims it is very likely that a Premier League club will launch a bid for his signature in January.

Can Everton afford a bidding war for Akturkoglu?

Having already scored five goals and provided six assists in only 16 games this season, Akturkoglu would be a brilliant signing for most teams outside the ‘Big 6’. With Jack Harrison likely to leave at the end of his loan if Leeds United are promoted, the Toffees could do much worse than looking at the Turkey international as an early replacement.

With his contract not set to expire until 2026, Galatasaray could demand a high fee for his departure.

With a long list of clubs tracking Akturkoglu, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a bidding war take place during the transfer window. Unless Everton’s takeover has been completed and 777 Partners are willing to quickly splash the cash, it will be difficult to see them being able to compete for his services.
