Deniz Dilmen has emerged as a potential transfer target for Everton this summer.

According to Turkish publication Sporx, Everton are amongst the several European clubs considering a move for Deniz Dilmen. The young Istanbul Basaksehir goalkeeper has caught the attention of Wolves, Villarreal, and AC Milan, as well as the Toffees.

Despite being just 18-years-old, Dilmen has already impressed in Turkish football. He came into the Basaksehir first team for his debut in a Super Lig clash with Adana Demirspor last season, and produced a fine display.

Everton may well now want to take advantage of the fact that Dilmen only has one year left on his current contract to snatch up the Turkish shot-stopper for a bargain fee. He would certainly be an interesting player to bring to Goodison Park with the future on mind.

Dilmen has plenty of potential, and is already performing well for his age. Basaksehir boss, Emre Belözoğlu, is desperate to keep Dilman at the club. He has already heaped praise on the teenager, dubbing him “the best goalkeeper among his age…He needs to improve himself a lot…We think we will bring a very important goalkeeper to Turkish football.”

The kind of move Everton need to make

Of course, even if he were to arrive this summer, Dilmen wouldn’t be in contention for a serious role in Sean Dyche’s first team squad. However, these are the kind of forward-thinking moves that have been all too rare at the club in recent years.

Everton have a great chance to secure the services of one of the most promising young goalkeepers in European football, and they shouldn’t hesitate to seize it. As well as making signings that can ensure Everton’s short-term survival in the top flight, the Toffees need to get deals like this done to lay the groundwork for getting the club back to where they want to be.
