Everton are one of several Premier League clubs in the hunt to sign Adam Wharton this summer.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, reporting on his Patreon page, Wolves are set to make a £12 million bid for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton. Everton, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United are also interested in the 19-year-old.

Wolves are lining Wharton up as a replacement for Matheus Nunes who is on the verge of joining Manchester City. Everton will have to act fast if they’re to win the race for the teenager’s signature.

Everton have recently confirmed the arrival of striker Beto from Udinese. However, Sean Dyche will be keen to bolster his squad further.

The Toffees could certainly do with some additional quality and strength in depth in the middle of the park. The likes of Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye, and Abdoulaye Doucoure have struggled to impress so far this season.

Bringing in Wharton now would be an interesting move with both the present and the future in mind.

Who is Adam Wharton?

Wharton broke into the Blackburn team last season, making his senior debut at Ewood Park in an EFL Cup clash against Hartlepool United in August 2022. Wharton went on to make 22 appearances in all competitions across the course of the campaign, chipping in with two goals and two assists.

Wharton has featured in all four of Blackburn Rovers’ Championship matches so far. Whether he is ready to step up to Premier League level and make an impact in the top flight at this stage in his career remains to be seen, but he certainly has the potential to get there at some point and could be a future star at Goodison Park.

At this time, though, Everton would perhaps be wiser to invest in a more proven and experienced option given the challenge they find themselves facing to stay in the Premier League this season.
