The latest Everton injury news ahead of the Toffees hosting Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, as Sean Dyche delivers updates on Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye.

Spurs will travel to Goodison Park on Saturday in the 12:30 kick-off striving to do the double over the Blues. Everton lost 2-1 at Tottenham in December with Richarlison and Son Heung-Min scoring before Andre Gomes returned from an injury to strike a late consultation effort.

Gomes has also missed Everton’s last Premier League game at Fulham and their FA Cup exit to Luton Town through injury. He is one of six doubts for Saturday’s encounter. But Dyche is able to play Gueye again now he has returned to Finch Farm from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Everton injury list ahead of hosting Tottenham Hotspur

Gueye is available for selection after Senegal lost on penalties to Ivory Coast in the last 16 of AFCON. The 34-year-old only returned to Finch Farm during deadline day this Thursday. But Dyche welcomed Gueye back into training on Friday as Everton prepared to host Tottenham.

Everton have not beaten Tottenham in any competition since an FA Cup victory at Goodison in February 2021. They have drawn three and lost three of their subsequent encounters. So, with that in mind, here is the latest injury situation at Everton as Dyche seeks a rare result…

Amadou Onana injury latest

Everton lost Amadou Onana to a knee injury against Luton in the FA Cup but could welcome the 22-year-old back against Tottenham. Dyche has noted that the Belgian is ‘touch-and-go’ for Saturday. Onana had to sit out Everton’s goalless stalemate at Fulham due to the injury.

“Amadou is still a doubt but he’s touch-and-go,” Dyche said of Onana’s injury during his pre-game press conference on Thursday ahead of Everton playing host to Tottenham.

Onana is a crucial cog in Dyche’s core and has started 16 of his 17 Premier League games so far this season. The nine-cap technician has further offered one goal from the base of their engine room. He missed a clutch of matches just before Christmas following a calf problem.

Expected return: Tottenham Hotspur (February 3)

Andre Gomes injury latest

Gomes sustained a calf injury in training during Everton’s winter break in January. It is not a major issue but ruled the 30-year-old out against Luton and Fulham. It is possible that he is available for selection against Tottenham but some doubts still remain regarding his return.

Losing Gomes to his injury came as a cruel blow for Dyche having already lost a number of midfielders with fitness issues. It was also a cruel blow for the 29-cap Portugal star, having only returned in December from the long-term calf injury that he sustained back in August.

Expected return: Tottenham Hotspur (February 3)

Arnaut Danjuma injury latest

Dyche admits that Arnaut Danjuma remains a ‘doubt’ to play when Everton meet Tottenham this Saturday as he recovers from his injury. The attacker took a knock at Fulham on Tuesday during a rare start. He opened a Premier League contest for only the fifth time yet this term.

The quick turnaround between facing Fulham and Tottenham is likely to rule Danjuma out at home to his former loan club. Spurs hired the Dutchman over the latter half of last term. But he only featured in nine Premier League games for just 162 minutes, whilst scoring one goal.

“We had a knock to Arnie and the game is coming up quickly,” Everton boss Dyche explained during his pre-match press conference whilst speaking on deadline day. “So, he is a doubt.”

Danjuma has started in five Premier League fixtures on loan to Everton from Villarreal so far this season. He has featured in a total of 14 from a potential 22 matches for 589 minutes, as well. While the 27-year-old has also only scored one goal in the top-flight for Dyche to date.

Expected return: Manchester City (February 10)

Seamus Coleman injury latest

Everton are continuing to monitor Seamus Coleman as the Toffees’ captain recovers from his hamstring injury. It is possible that the right-back returns at home to Tottenham on Saturday but only on the bench. Dyche outlined on Thursday that the 35-year-old is still not match fit.

“Seamus is getting more training in,” Dyche said during his pre-match press conference. “His injury has been good but [we are] getting him up to true match fitness. So, he is a maybe.”

Coleman has only played in three Premier League fixtures for a total of 184 minutes so far in 2023/24. He started the term on the sidelines with a knee injury and only returned to match action in December. Coleman started in two of his three top-flight outings between injuries.

Expected return: Manchester City (February 10)

Abdoulaye Doucoure injury latest

Everton will remain without Abdoulaye Doucoure against Tottenham while he recovers from a hamstring injury. But the 31-year-old has started to do individual work on the grass pitches at Finch Farm. He has missed the Blues’ past two games in all competitions due to the injury.

The injury occurred just one match after Doucoure returned from a hamstring problem with his other leg. The initial injury kept him from featuring in six matches, of which Everton also lost in all but two. Everton have further only won once without Doucoure so far this season.

“Doucs is on the grass but not with us yet,” Blues boss Dyche also noted. “So, he is unlikely”

Expected return: Unclear

Dele Alli injury latest

There will be no reunion for Dele Alli and Tottenham this Saturday as the midfielder remains sidelined with a groin injury. Everton recently sent the 27-year-old for surgery after suffering a setback in his recovery. He has not featured for a second this season due to the problem.

Dele suffered his injury whilst on loan to Besiktas over the second half of last season. He has since developed frequent setbacks in the 37-cap England international’s quest to return. The Goodison Park natives are reluctant to put a timeframe on when Dele may be able to return.

Expected return: Unclear
