Everton continue to maintain really positive relationships with ex-players at Goodison Park, and they even invited one icon to come and watch a game recently.
Sean Dyche couldn’t quite make it two wins on the bounce last time out against Newcastle United, as a penalty incident caused controversy at Goodison Park.
Jordan Pickford was the hero, saving a penalty from Anthony Gordon. And after the game Pickford ended up telling the Newcastle star how he managed to guess the right way.
It wasn’t without controversy, though. Everton felt Craig Pawson and VAR should’ve awarded them a penalty, which never came.
But a point is a point at the end of the day; it’s just frustrating when decisions like this go against you.
Nevertheless, Everton actually invited one of their icons to come and watch the game, and he even got to be in the boardroom.

Everton invite 284-appearance icon to Goodison Park
Everton always try to keep as close as they can to former players, with Leighton Baines, Duncan Ferguson and Tim Cahill the perfect examples of that.
Interestingly, the club invited one former player in particular to the boardroom to watch Everton against Newcastle.
Speaking on the More Than A Game podcast, Adrian Heath talked about his recent trip to Goodison Park to watch the game with Peter Reid and a number of other former players.
“I loved it at the weekend. I was at the stadium, and the club invited me into the boardroom, and I was in there with Reidy, Kevin Ratcliffe and Joe Royal.”
Who is Adrian Heath?
Adrian Heath played a key role in Everton’s transformation under Howard Kendall.
He later returned to Goodison alongside his long-time mentor to help save the club from relegation.
The former attacking midfielder made a whopping 284 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 88 goals and providing 23 assists for his teammates.
Interestingly, he won the Football League First Division in 1984–85 and 1986–87. The FA Cup in 1984, the FA Charity Shield in 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987, and UEFA European Cup Winners Cup in 1985.
