Everton in the race for tricky winger who’s ‘annoyed’ with his club, he wants out

Everton want a new winger – and the club have turned their attention to a player over in France.

David Moyes stated that a right winger is a priority at the moment, and a number of players have been linked.

Tyler Dibling is someone Everton really want to bring in, with the Toffees having already failed with one offer.

Everton have now made three bids for Dibling, but there is now a growing feeling that the Toffees might just be priced out of a move.

In an ideal world, Everton would get Dibling over the line and he would be available to play in the game against AS Roma this week.

It is starting to look doubtful. But Everton may be looking to bring in another winger who can actually play on both sides.

It has been claimed by Foot Mercato that Everton are in the race to sign Zuriko Davitashvili, who plays for Saint-Etienne.

Saint-Etienne were relegated at the end of last season. But Davitashvili stood out in their team, scoring nine goals and making eight assists.

With Saint-Etienne going down, there is now interest in Davitashvili, including from Everton.

Foot Mercato say Stade Rennais, Strasbourg, Sevilla FC, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Everton are all looking at the 24-year-old.

But Saint-Etienne do not want to sell Davitashvili.

And this stance is said to have annoyed Davitashvili.

It is even stated that Davitashvili didn’t want to come on and play for Saint-Etienne in their recent friendly matches against Paris FC and Cagliari.

So this stance from the player could well end up forcing Saint-Etienne’s hand.

However, frustratingly for Everton, the player would prefer to play European football next season.

Everton face battle to land Davitashvili

We’ve already heard Moyes talk about Everton’s lack of football being a reason for the club struggling in the transfer market.

So it may well be that Everton have issues again in any approach for Davitashvili, who is said to be valued at around €15-20 million (£13-17 million via GFFN).

But perhaps Everton may be able to sway the tricky and versatile Georgia international with the promise of playing at a world-class new stadium every other week, and likely a better financial package.

But ultimately the most important thing is getting players who really want to play for the club.

It remains to be seen if Everton will make a proper push to sign Davitashvili, but given the struggles over Dibling perhaps a swoop cannot be ruled out.
