Everton fans are very much looking forward to the January transfer window, after a very tough season so far.

The Toffees sit just three points above the relegation zone right now, and supporters are extremely concerned – especially given the continued struggle to score goals.

Everton are the lowest scorers in the Premier League having hit just 15 in 18 games so far.

The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have massively disappointed, and there have been calls for The Friedkin Group to invest in a forward who can score goals.

Sean Dyche suggested recently that Everton will be having a sensible January window, but TFG – working with Kevin Thelwell – will certainly be looking to bring new faces in.

And seemingly, Everton have sounded out a player from Turkey to potentially come in.

It has been claimed by Takvim that Everton are interested in potentially signing Yunus Akgun from Galatasaray next month.

Everton are said to be lining up an offer for the 24-year-old, who has had a productive season so far. He’s certainly been much busier in the final third than any of Everton’s attackers.

In 23 appearances, Akgun has scored 10 goals and made six assists so far.

Currently, he is the join-top scorer in the Europa League with five goals, alongside Rasmus Hojlund, Samu Agehowa and Barnabas Varga.

Akgun is a name that some fans of English football will recognise, as he did previously have a loan spell with Leicester City.

Everton have also been linked with striker Tim Kleindienst in recent days, so fans will really hope that someone who’s been scoring regularly will indeed be coming in next month.

Akgun could be an upgrade on Jack Harrison

Everton fans will certainly be able to get behind the club targeting a player who’s made 16 goal contributions already this season.

Because the output has been nowhere near good enough from the current crop of attackers in Everton’s squad.

Jack Harrison is a player who’s regularly come in for criticism, and certainly, Akgun seems like he would be an upgrade on the Englishman. Dyche recently hailed Harrison for his work-rate, but fans feel he just isn’t at the level required.

As per Football Talent Scout, the left-footed Akgun is a ‘creative player with great technique on the ball, mobility, acceleration skills, fast direction shifts, short-dribbling and good short-mid through passing ability’.

He is also ‘all-action and energetic’, and is said to favour playing on the right side in a 4-3-3 formation.
