Everton might be set for Frank Lampard reunion next season even if Coventry fail to go up

Frank Lampard remains a popular figure amongst Everton fans despite being sacked back in January 2023.

The Englishman often referred to himself as an “Evertonian” and memorably kept the Toffees in the Premier League with that thrilling 3-2 win over Crystal Palace back in May 2022, which prompted a pitch invasion at Goodison Park.

Frank Lampard now sits top of the Championship with Coventry – but Everton could still face him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium even if he fails to win promotion as Crystal Palace now lurk.

How much do the Friedkins need to make available for David Moyes to spend in January? 💰

Crystal Palace could hire Frank Lampard

The 47-year-old has done well for himself since receiving his P45 at Everton.

TalkSPORT believe Crystal Palace are now considering Lampard as a replacement for Oliver Glasner – who is leaving Selhurst Park at the end of the season – as a result of his efforts with Coventry.

It means, even if the Robins – who are six points clear at the Championship summit – somehow fail to achieve promotion, Lampard could still get a chance to manage against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next term.

Everton should consider bringing Frank Lampard back if David Moyes departs in 2027

David Moyes remains under contract with Everton until July 2027, but unless the Toffees are flying at that stage, it feels unlikely the Glaswegian will sign an extension.

The 62-year-old has already spoken about not wanting to “outstay his welcome” after returning to Everton, so if Lampard is still doing an impressive job with Coventry or Crystal Palace at the time Moyes does end up leaving, The Friedkin Group should consider bringing him back.

There is arguably no better English manager outside of the Premier League right now 👀

As aforesaid, Lampard – who Everton want to take Bobby Thomas from – forged a strong relationship with the Toffees fanbase during his time in charge and really bought into the club.

Therefore, perhaps The Friedkin Group could even secure a loose form of verbal agreement with the Coventry boss now ahead of a potential appointment in the near future.
