Everton will be hoping to sneak a deal or two in before the January transfer window slams shut.
However, at present that seems wholly unlikely.
After all, the recent spat of punishments administered by the Premier League is unlikely to spur on any risks, especially with their profit and sustainability rules reportedly set to change this summer.
And yet, reports continue to emerge suggesting the Toffees remain keen on a few mid-season targets…
Who could Everton sign this January?
It is well-documented that for Everton and the bulk of the Premier League, they would have to sell before they could buy.
After all, November’s points deduction, and this week’s second alleged breach, has clubs petrified at the thought of spending money and putting themselves at risk.
A statement has been made and a precedent has been set, and whether they follow through in future or not, teams are scared.

However, that has not stopped Kevin Thelwell from perusing the market, with Frank Onyeka one man they continue to be linked with.
Well, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has now revealed that there could be another who they might purchase, with the reporter writing on X: ‘Can #Uzun, two more goals for Nürnberg today! 18 y/o striker, incredible talent, key player!
‘Price tag in summer: More than €10m (£8.5m). Concrete talks with Dortmund took place. Bayern have inquired about him. He’s a target for Frankfurt. Newcastle have scouted him. He’s also on the list of Fulham, Brighton, Everton, Sevilla, Villarreal …’.
Who is Can Uzun?
Although a lesser-known talent within European football, there is clearly an immensely high ceiling for the Turkish U18 international.
After all, although his breakthrough has only occurred recently, already there are murmurs within German football about his starring qualities.
Standing at 6 foot 1 and clearly boasting an eye for goal, both the physical and technical foundation is already in place, albeit growing every day.
Having spent his entire youth career in Germany, and now with 21 senior appearances for FC Nurnburg under his belt, this campaign has been a supremely profitable one thus far, with the teenage sensation having scored eight goals in just 18 2.Bundesliga games whilst also posting five goal contributions in three DFP Pokal matches too, via Transfermarkt.

Perhaps most exciting for Sean Dyche is his versatility, with the hulking forward also showcasing the quality to drop deep and operate as an attacking midfielder.
With Abdoulaye Doucoure not getting any younger, and being linked with moves away from Everton this window, perhaps Uzun might finally mark the capture of his rightful heir just in time.
