Everton have missed the chance to move up to sixth in the Premier League table, losing 2-1 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to Bournemouth in dreadful fashion.
Iliman Ndiaye put Everton ahead just before half-time from the penalty spot, after a good press by Jarrad Branthwaite.
But the hosts were pegged back just before the hour mark as Rayan lost Vitalii Mykolenko at the back post to score.
HOW on earth have Everton ended up losing that? 😡
Something drastically needs to change on home soil… 🫣
Bournemouth then got in front, as Amine Adli headed in from a set-piece.
Everton’s chances of getting back into the game then took a major blow, as Jake O’Brien committed a last-man foul to earn himself a red card.
The Toffees did actually apply some late pressure despite the numerical disadvantage, but there was to be no late equaliser.
Undoubtedly, this is a major opportunity missed for Everton.
Everton player ratings vs Bournemouth
Jordan Pickford – 5
Couldn’t have really done anything about Bournemouth’s goals.
Jake O’Brien – 3
After a poor game, O’Brien was sent off for denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
Who was Everton’s biggest let down in that defeat to Bournemouth? 😤
There were a number of really poor displays out there! ❌
James Tarkowski – 5
An OK display from the captain and wasn’t really at fault for the capitulation.
Jarrad Branthwaite – 6
Back making his first start at centre-back after injury, Branthwaite was decent at the back. Everton needed something from someone to find a breakthrough, and his high press won the penalty which Ndiaye converted.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 3
He may have got slightly lucky with his challenge on Rayan as Bournemouth saw a penalty shout waved away. Moments later he lost Rayan at the back post as the winger nodded the Cherries level.
James Garner – 6
It had been a controlled display from Garner but he faded in the second-half, especially after the red card. Was forced to play right back after O’Brien went off so Everton missed him in midfield.
Idrissa Gana Gueye – 4
Gueye continues to look like he needs a rest. Sloppy on the ball at times and even clattered his own teammate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at one point.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 5
Worked hard to try and get Everton back into the game but just couldn’t exert his influence like he did at the weekend.
Iliman Ndiaye – 6
Squeezed his penalty into the side netting, giving Djordje Petrovic no chance. Caused problems throughout, but he might have done more to stop the cross for the equaliser.

Tyrique George – 5
George was involved enough on his full debut, but it’s clear he is still raw. Some nice touches and turns, but he was also barged off the ball a lot leading to dangerous turnovers. Replaced by Harrison Armstrong.
Thierno Barry – 2
An awful night for him. There could be some sympathy as the service to him was poor. But he squandered a fantastic chance in the first-half after the goalkeeper spilled Garner’s free-kick. He then missed another big chance early in the second-half after a lovely ball across to him from Ndiaye. He lacked ruthlessness and Everton paid as a result, letting the game slip. Replaced by Beto.

Substitutes
Beto – 4
Better than the man he replaced but offered little threat. Had a good headed chance late on but produced a feeble effort.
Harrison Armstrong – 5
Got involved as soon as he came on and tried to make things happen. Was strangely made to play as a left winger.
Michael Keane – N/A
