Everton have drawn 1-1 with Leeds United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton had a bright opening to the game but after around 10 minutes Leeds really started to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
Daniel Farke’s side have been much improved since they changed system and the wing-backs really had a field day.
Everton fans, your immediate thoughts on tonight’s 1-1 with Leeds? 🤔
It was certainly a game of two halves…
James Justin gave the visitors the lead after a move down the left side, and in truth Leeds should have been a few ahead at half-time.
David Moyes changed up the system at half-time and rightly so, moving to a back three and wing-backs.
That helped Everton to become more solid and see more of the ball.
After a lot of pressure, Everton got level through Thierno Barry, who scored his fourth goal in five Premier League games.
Everton pushed for a winner but couldn’t quite find a breakthrough. While the draw is slightly frustrating, the Toffees at least showed good character to get back into the contest.
But certainly, Everton need to improve at home.
Everton player ratings vs Leeds

Jordan Pickford – 6
Not much he could do for the goal by James Justin. Made a few decent saves.
Nathan Patterson – 5
Patterson couldn’t continue his good form of late. He was run ragged by Brenden Aaronson and his crossing was poor. Replaced by Tyler Dibling.
James Tarkowski – 7
Everton fans, who was your standout performer in the 1-1 draw with Leeds? 🤔
A decent display from Everton’s captain.
Jake O’Brien – 6
Poor on the opening Leeds goal and should have been out to Jayden Bogle quicker. Much better in the second-half though after the system change.
Vitaliy Mykolenko – 5
An uncomfortable night for the Ukrainian who was run ragged by Bogle in the first-half. Adam Aznou must be strongly considered to replace him.
James Garner – 6
A rare off night for Garner who struggled to dictate in midfield. Some poor deliveries into the box too. Improved after the break though as Everton seized control.
Idrissa Gana Gueye – 6
In his first game back from AFCON, Gueye provided an assist to get Everton back into the game. He then came within a whisker of scoring but hit the bar.
Harrison Armstrong – 4
It’s been a great spell for Armstrong since returning from Preston, but he struggled against Leeds. Just couldn’t really get into it. Replaced at half-time by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Dwight McNeil – 2
Dwight McNeil surely has to be dropped after his display vs Leeds doesn’t he, Everton fans?! 🤔
The winger was hooked at half-time as David Moyes changed the system…
Not good enough again. Usually decent defensively but tonight he gave no protection to Patterson as Leeds thrived through their wing-backs. He was absolutely nowhere for Justin’s goal as the defender ghosted in. Offered nothing in the final third. Replaced at half-time by Jarrad Branthwaite as Moyes changed the system.
Iliman Ndiaye – 6
Like Gueye, Ndiaye was off the pace on his return from AFCON. Perhaps could have been awarded a foul in the build up to Leeds’ opener, but realistically he went down far too easily. He was still a threat though.
Thierno Barry – 7

Barry was actually quite poor in the first-half and was well dealt with by the Leeds backline. But he kept plugging away and showed great reactions to get on the end of Idrissa Gueye’s cross to score his fourth in five games. Let’s hope his run continues for as long as possible. Replaced by Beto.
Substitutes
Jarrad Branthwaite – 6
Back from injury for his first appearance of the season and helped Everton become more solid after his introduction at half-time.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 6
Back after injury and looked decent on his return. Provided fresh impetus and was involved in the build-up to the equaliser by Barry.
Tyler Dibling – 5
Passed up a late opportunity to shoot on his weak foot. A more confident version of Dibling might have taken it on.
Beto – N/A
