Everton completed a number of deals on transfer deadline day, and there was one that may have been missed.

David Moyes almost got his wish of 10 new signings, as Everton managed to complete their ninth in Merlin Rohl yesterday.

Rohl has joined on an initial loan deal that will become permanent if the Toffees retain their Premier League status.

On the outgoing front, Harrison Armstrong left for Preston North End on a season-long loan deal, and Tyler Onyango joined Stockport County.

There was another departure that may have gone under the radar.

Isaac Heath ended up leaving Everton

Isaac Heath impressed for Everton in pre-season and was making a real impression in training, with many expecting him to be a part of Moyes’ first-team this year.

Heath actually won a penalty after a jinking run in a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley, which sparked a lot of excitement among supporters.

However, the 20-year-old ended up completing a last-minute deadline day move to the very club he played so well against in July.

Accrington have landed his signature on a season-long loan deal, so he will be playing his football in League Two this term.

Accrington manager John Doolan was impressed by Isaac Heath in pre-season

Speaking to Accrington Stanley’s official website, manager John Doolan admitted he was impressed by Heath’s technical ability when they faced Everton in pre-season.

“Isaac is a very good player,” Doolan explained.

“We looked at him last season but didn’t think we needed that then as we needed to give our lads a chance to showcase what they were about.

“He popped up this season, a number of clubs were interested, and he was more than willing to come. He loves one-v-ones and loves set-plays. He can see a pass and is creative in the final third and wants to make things happen. He has tricks, he can beat his man and will get people off their seats.

“He can play across the front. He has the technical ability and is still learning tactically. We saw him first hand in pre-season when he came on and got a penalty for Everton.

“He is something different, he can get the ball, drive at players and can score goals. He has done that at the level he is at, he has trained with the Everton First Team and hopefully he can take that into the EFL.”
