Everton are preparing to launch a January bid to sign Adam Wharton.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon page, Everton are one of a number of clubs hoping to secure the services of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton in the upcoming January transfer window.
Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, and Brighton are also keen on the 19-year-old. It is unsurprising to see Wharton in such demand. The teenage ace has previously been described as a “sensation,” and he has been in excellent form so far this season and has established himself as a stalwart in the middle of the park for Rovers.
With so much competition for the player’s signature, it will be tough for Everton to get a deal done. However, it would be a real boon for the Toffees to bring Wharton to Goodison Park, and he would certainly bring extra quality to the squad.

Wharton an ideal option for Everton
Sean Dyche clearly recognises that his midfield options are light. Everton are already understaffed in the middle of the park, and what’s more, Idrissa Gueye is a long way past his best.
The England under-19 international could be part of the next generation of Everton stars, who will be aiming to carry the club back into contention for European qualification, rather than routinely scrapping to stave off relegation from the top flight.
Wharton looks ready to test himself in the Premier League, and would get the playing time he needs at Everton. He could potentially have a massive impact as part of Dyche’s squad over the course of the second half of the season.
Whether they land Wharton or not, Dyche will still want to add to his midfield options in January. He will be hoping that the financial situation at Everton is healthier by the time the winter window rolls around.
