Everton are plotting a late swoop to sign Maxwel Cornet.
According to The Daily Mail, Everton want to bring West Ham United attacker Maxwel Cornet to Goodison Park before the transfer window closes.
West Ham United paid £17.5 million to sign Cornet from Burnley last summer. However, the winger failed to truly establish himself at the London Stadium last season. The 26-year-old managed just 14 Premier League appearances for the Hammers in an injury-ravaged campaign. The majority of these outings came from the bench. In 22 appearances in all competitions he failed to score a single goal, though he was able to weigh in with five assists.
Cornet has shown he can shine at Premier League level before. In his single season with Burnley he scored nine times and was thrilling to watch at times. The 30-cap Ivory Coast international is a showman, with pace, skill, and an eye for goal. As things stand, though, he has been short on form, fitness, and confidence for too long.

Everton can offer Cornet a fresh start
Sean Dyche brought the player to Burnley in the first place, and coaxed the best out of him at Turf Moor. He will back himself to be able to do the same on Merseyside, if Everton can pick up the player for a bargain price or on a loan deal.
If Cornet can rediscover his best form, he would be a brilliant addition to Everton’s squad. However, having already brought in Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison this summer there is a question as to whether there is room for Cornet at Everton.
West Ham themselves may not feel ready to cut their losses on the former Lyon man. After all, this is a player who was even able to catch the eye of Pep Guardiola, who he impressed with a fine performance for the French club in a Champions League clash with Manchester City.
