Everton have now confirmed the Toffees’ 2023 pre-season friendlies after boss Sean Dyche secured their Premier League survival. So, here is everything you need to know about the Goodison Park outfit’s plans.
The Merseyside club only ensured they remained an ever-present part of the Premier League on the final day in 2022/23. Dyche managed to steady the ship at Goodison Park just enough to keep Everton clear of a possibly catastrophic relegation. But he now has his work cut out to guide the Toffees back up the table.
Dyche is to take his first pre-season with Everton’s first-team squad after replacing Frank Lampard in charge this January. This summer will also give the best prospects in Everton’s academy their chance to shine. So, Everton News runs through everything you need to know about the club’s pre-season schedule.

When does Everton’s pre-season start in 2023?
Dyche ordered his Everton players to reconvene at Finch Farm to kick-start their pre-season training on July 6, 2023. But the Toffees’ squad then swiftly headed off to Switzerland for their mini-camp on July 10.
Everton’s fixture list for their 2023 pre-season
As of August 1, Everton have confirmed seven pre-season friendlies for their summer 2023 schedule. The Toffees delayed finalising their plans while Dyche successfully fought to seal their Premier League survival. The Goodison Park natives only retained their berth in the top-flight on the final day of the 2022/23 term.
Everton will begin their pre-season plans on the road with a trip to Switzerland to face Stade Nyonnais in Nyon. The Swiss second-tier side will host the Toffees at their Centre Sportif De Colovray complex during the Goodison Park outfit’s training camp on the Swiss-French border with a small scattering of away fans.

Dyche has also arranged a possibly challenging run of fixtures against lower-tier English opposition for his first pre-season at Everton. The ex-Burnley boss will see his Blues players hit the pitch at League Two side Tranmere Rovers, League One’s Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic plus Championship club Stoke City.
Just Bolton, Stoke and Wigan will face a full first-team Toffees line-up, though, as Dyche is also sending an Everton XI with some Under-21 gems to Tranmere. Dyche also favoured local clubs for his pre-seasons at Burnley. The Clarets even rarely ventured outside of Lancashire in his final summer at Turf Moor in 2021.
An additional behind-closed-doors friendly with AC Monza joined Everton’s summer schedule on July 31, as well. The Toffees booked a training match with the Serie A side as Dyche sought to afford his players a further chance to gain fitness. Monza ended the 2022/23 term 11th in their first season in Italy’s top tier.
Everton will round out their pre-season schedule in 2023 with their sole fixture of the summer to be held at Goodison Park on August 5 against Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese giants will travel to Merseyside for a high-calibre match just seven days before Everton start the new Premier League season against Fulham.

Who did Everton play during their 2022 pre-season?

Everton kicked off their pre-season schedule in 2022 with a training camp at Finch Farm on July 4 under Lampard. Only those who represented their countries during the post-season international break did not reconvene with the rest of the Toffees’ squad that day. While Everton then jetted off to the United States.
The Merseyside natives embarked on a tour of the USA for the bulk of their pre-season schedule in 2022. Everton also faced Premier League opposition in Arsenal across the pond to kick off their run of games. It did not result in a positive beginning for Lampard’s men, though, as Mikel Arteta’s players took a 2-0 win.
One further friendly against Minnesota United followed in America as Everton suffered another defeat. It was not until the Toffees returned to English soil that Lampard put their first win of 2022/23 on the board. The Goodison Park team also only played once at their home stadium as part of the Global Tour for Peace.
