Everton will know how crucial a win here today will be, and fortunately face a side in the polar opposite form to their own.

Whilst Burnley might have enjoyed a minor resurgence in recent weeks, having beaten Sheffield United with ease and snagged a draw off Brighton and Hove Albion, before that they had lost seven on the spin including against the Toffees in the EFL Cup.

Meanwhile, today’s visitors are enjoying one of their finest runs of form in years, with this an opportunity to win an unprecedented fourth straight Premier League game.

Sean Dyche will see no sweeter opponents to do it against than his former employers, but faces a stern task piecing together a side plagued by injuries and suspension.

Here’s our predicted XI for Everton’s game vs Burnley…

Jordan Pickford, their ever-present and reliable goalkeeper, will remain in between the sticks for Everton.

He will sit behind a back four ravaged by those aforementioned ailments, with right-back and centre-back the points of contention.

Although James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko make up one-half of the backline, Jarrad Branthwaite’s one-match ban and injuries to both Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young have enforced a reshuffle.

It only makes sense that Dyche will have to start Nathan Patterson at full-back, with the £28k-per-week ‘diamond’, in the eyes of Danny Murphy, surely raring to take his opportunity.

Then, to fill the monumental vacancy left by their 21-year-old superstar, Michael Keane’s return to first-team training will be another welcome sight to his manager.

Amadou Onana managed a full 45 minutes on Sunday, and proved influential in their win over Chelsea. As such, his recall could prove imperative, to star alongside James Garner and just behind Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Naturally, Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison will occupy the wide spaces, but again a dilemma arises up front.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has led the line with poise and power for weeks now, but the goals have admittedly dried up. Meanwhile, Beto came from the bench to showcase his own pace and power before drilling in their third against Newcastle United.

Perhaps today marks the perfect opportunity to rest his 26-year-old frontman in favour of the summer signing, who has earned this chance.
