Everton ratings vs Brighton as Beto saves the day but 3/10 disaster lets David Moyes down

Everton were able to snatch a late point on Saturday thanks to an incredibly late goal from Beto.

David Moyes was forced into a change for the game down on the south coast with some unexpected injury news ahead of the game.

Vitaliy Mykolenko has suffered an injury in training, which saw Jarrad Branthwaite make his first start of the season.

Pascal Gross provided Brighton & Hove Albion the lead, with his goal coming slightly against the run of play.

Everton were far from their best, but they were able to seal a point through a last-gasp Beto goal.

Who was your most underwhelming Everton player vs Brighton? 😡

Some really poor displays out there! 🫣

Here are Everton News’ player ratings for the draw down on the south coast. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on TalkingPoints.

Jordan Pickford – 6

Stood absolutely no chance in saving the goal. Otherwise a usual Jordan Pickford performance.

Jake O’Brien – 5

Accidentally deflected a James Tarkowski header away from a certain goal in the second half.

Offered very little in an attacking sense. Moyes says Everton want to sign a new right-back and fans will be hoping for one before Monday night.

Wow, just wow! Sum that up for us, Toffees! 🤯

Who'd have thought Beto would save the day? 🤣

Everton full time result vs Brighton & Hove Albion.

James Tarkowski – 6

Unfortunate not to give Everton the lead in the second half with his header from a corner. The defender was left furious with the goal conceded at the other end.

Michael Keane – 3

On his return to the starting XI, Michael Keane was dragged out of the backline for the goal, which left Tarkowski and O’Brien

Jarrad Branthwaite – 5

Impressive for Branthwaite to play nearly the full 90 minutes on his return, but that probably says more about how Moyes views his squad.

James Garner – 6

Solid if not spectacular from James Garner.

There are no wrong answers here! They have all been sensational this season 🔥

But which two are you starting if you're Moyes? 🤷‍♂️

Idrissa Gana Gueye – 5

Questions need to be asked whether Idrissa Gana Gueye would benefit from some time on the sidelines.

After returning from AFCON, the midfielder looks tired and could be replaced by Armstrong.

Harrison Armstrong – 5

Armstrong wants to prove himself at Everton, but this was not the game for that as he was played out wide on the right.

What is the best next step for Harrison Armstrong after his recall? 🤩

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 5

On his return to the starting XI, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall enjoyed the best of the chances for the Blues.

The 27-year-old really should have opened the scoring, with Moyes left with his hands on his head after Bart Verbruggen denied him inside the box.

Iliman Ndiaye – 5

Not quite up to his typical standards, but it is worth noting that Iliman Ndiaye often found himself helping out Branthwaite in defence.

Thierno Barry – 5

Came into the game more in the second half and Thierno Barry should have had an assist for Dewsbury-Hall’s effort.

Substitutes

Tyler Dibling -N/A

Carlos Alcaraz – 7

Stunning pass in the build up to the equalising goal.

Tim Iroegbunam – N/A

Beto – 9

Brought on to find a goal and that is exactly what Beto was able to do!

Beto has interest from a number of European sides ahead of Monday’s deadline; that goal may have just kept him a spot in Moyes’ squad.
