Everton enjoyed a busy summer of incomings, where Kevin Thelwell worked tirelessly to leave the squad in a much stronger state.
Sean Dyche, ever since his appointment, has had to contend with so many unplanned obstacles, and it felt like after such an arduous period he deserved some kind of respite.
So, seeing him comb through the transfer market with relative freedom compared to recent years was a welcome sight.
However, despite bringing in three new permanent additions as well as a further three on loan, it was arguably who they kept at Goodison Park that will have the biggest impact this season.
One man in particular could be set to stay beyond just this year too, should they miraculously tie him down to a new deal.
Everton want to keep Jarrad Branthwaite amid Manchester United interest
However, they will unsurprisingly face plenty of pushback in this pursuit, given how many clubs are still trying to sign Jarrad Branthwaite.
This comes amidst further turmoil as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still refusing to sign a new deal at Everton as well.
It is GIVEMESPORT who has provided the latest update on his future, with the injured defender remaining a target for Manchester United after a summer of pitiful bids to try and secure his services.

And whilst they have not waned in their interest, they will surely be outgunned by the biggest draw there is, should Real Madrid make their reported interest concrete.
Despite all this, there is still the faint and hopeful possibility that he might sign a new deal, which the report does briefly touch on.
It reads: ‘Although there has been some speculation over Everton looking to reward Branthwaite with an improved deal, having made himself one of the first names on the team sheet last term, GMS sources have been informed that failing to reach an internal agreement will not have an impact on his valuation.’
Why Jarrad Branthwaite should stick around at Everton for a little while longer
Whilst turning down the Red Devils is justifiable given their recent struggles, snubbing Real Madrid is another thing entirely.
However, there is reason to believe that sticking around at Everton for another year or two could be completely beneficial to Branthwaite’s career rather than fast-tracking his way to the top.
After all, he is unlikely to be guaranteed a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s team just yet, no matter how highly the Italian rates him.
Meanwhile, a move to Old Trafford has proven somewhat unprofitable in recent years, with so many failing to live up to their potential in what seems from the outside like a very unstable environment.
Everton is far from the most stable, but he is already recognised as one of their best players, having been lauded by journalist Vinny O’Connor as ‘outstanding‘ as recently as March.

Sticking around and remaining a big fish in a small pond could be crucial in his development, building his confidence and, crucially, waiting for more suitors to arrive.
Who knows? Perhaps in another year or two of starring on Merseyside he might be faced with the chance of joining any club he wants in the entire world. That’s how good he can be.
