Everton are looking to bolster their defensive options this transfer window, in what could be crucial to the second half of their Premier League season
Despite Everton’s owners, The Friedkin Group, setting a ‘modest’ budget for Sean Dyche this January, the Toffees manager is possibly in the market for a new arrival.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that the Toffees are seeking new talent to rejuvenate a lacklustre squad with two wins in their last eleven games.
With the window still in its early stages, Everton fans could expect an old rumour to come to light again in the defensive department.

Everton reignite interest in Galatasaray defender Elias Jelert
According to Turkish media outlet, Takvim, Everton are set to kick start their interest in Danish right-back Elias Jelert.
The 21-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Goodison Park after not making the desired impact he expected when he made the jump to Galatasaray from FC Copenhagen for €9m (£7.5m) in the summer, making just four starts in 14 games.
This still seems to be the case and Jelert is said to be on Everton’s radar once more in a bid to expand their back-line options.
Galatasaray are keen to sell the full-back on a permanent deal so they can find a replacement, and it comes as no surprise that they are also hoping to recoup the transfer fee they paid for him.
Everton must strengthen in full-back area amid Seamus Coleman exit
It’s fair to say that Everton does not lack experience when it comes to their right-back options, as Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman are reaching the latter stage of their career.
Nathan Patterson has been promising, but after several injury setbacks, Dyche may be searching for a reliable young full-back to fill the void.
Adding on to this, Dyche exclaimed how unlucky Coleman has been this season, who has had his fair share of injuries over the years at Goodison Park.
Coleman is uncertain about staying at Everton, as the Toffees veteran made it obvious he’s ‘not sure’ at the prospect, in an interview after the Toffees’ 0-0 draw with Manchester City.
The 36-year-old has been an astute piece of business, but it may be the best option for both parties if the Irishman is to move on at the end of the season with his contract expiring.
This could open the door for the likes of Jelert to take centre stage, as rumours of the Dane moving to Everton could persist further as the window moves on.
