Everton, across the last decade or so, have endured some of the darkest times in the club’s history.

Whether it be financial turmoil or looming relegation threat, this fanbase has been put through the emotional wringer more times than it can count.

However, throughout it all, there has remained a perceived light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, after years of waiting, that light has never been closer, with the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium nearing completion.

Everton’s next step on the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium

Set to move into their new home for the start of the 2025/26 season, this promised to be a historic Premier League campaign.

After all, it was to be their last at Goodison Park.

And whilst that notion will bring about great sadness to many, it is seen as a necessary evil to drag them into contention as a footballing institution.

The latest update, delivered straight from the club, offers a huge step forward recently made that will have both fans and players excited.

They posted across social media a picture of the inside of the arena, with the caption: ‘A germination blanket has now been laid at Everton Stadium.’ This is in preparation for the laying of the pitch; the final piece of the Bramley-Moore puzzle.

Could The Friedkin Group be looking to expand the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium?

With The Esk and Dan Meis having argued over the capacity of the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, this is a very current and pertinent issue.

And whilst some will argue that it is incompetence on the part of Farhad Moshiri, the Everton owner at the time, The Athletic have recently reported that it could actually be made a moot point.

After all, they suggest that the Friedkin Group are eying a complete regeneration of the docklands surrounding the Toffees’ new home.

It reads: ‘The newer news is that TFG has already started to look at what life will be like at Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

‘With that in mind, TFG is looking to increase the club’s footprint at the docklands site, most likely by buying the land around Nelson Dock, which is immediately to the south of Bramley-Moore Dock, to create more space for the type of entertainment and leisure offering any venue-operator must provide these days to make the sums add up.’

It is then then when a particularly big claim is made: ‘There are also whispers — and that is all they are at present — that TFG might want to increase the stadium’s capacity at some point, which will not be easy given the tight constraints of the site and the design of the £750million building. There is, however, some scope to expand the stadium’s east side but only if there is genuine demand for it, as it would not be cheap.’

It seems that the Friedkins have come to invest heavily in Everton, which is certainly a good start.
