Everton cashed in on Youssef Chermiti this past summer, and that decision continues to look like the right move.
Everton are enduring problems in attack despite signing Thierno Barry over the summer.
Barry is a long-term project for Everton, while Beto’s purple patch earlier in 2025 has not been replicated.
Everton may be back in the market for another striker in 2025, but there will be no regrets over offloading Youssef Chermiti.

Youssef Chermiti struggles in first Old Firm showing
Everton took a punt on Chermiti in 2023, snapping him up from Portuguese side Sporting.
The forward had scored just three first-team goals for Sporting, but Kevin Thelwell saw enough potential to lure him to Everton.
After failing to score in 25 Everton appearances, Chermiti was sold to Rangers this past summer as Thelwell pounced again.
Rangers fans have been left unconvinced by Chermiti, and that continued on Sunday.
Chermiti was given a chance to start his first Old Firm derby as Rangers faced Celtic in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park.
Chermiti scored his first Rangers goal last week, but was completely ineffectual against Celtic.
Rangers lost 3-1 after extra time, and Chermiti was hooked on 71 minutes after failing to threaten the Celtic back line.
Chermiti is still struggling in terms of holding the ball up and linking play, and he missed a golden chance to score from six yards with 21 minutes on the clock.
Chermiti fired wide and Celtic opened the scoring mere minutes later, with the former Everton forward made to pay for his profligacy.
Everton’s decision to sell Youssef Chermiti looks correct
Chermiti is a young striker who hasn’t played all that much football for a 21-year-old forward.
After limited minutes at Sporting and Everton, it’s no surprise to see that Chermiti is raw and unpolished.
Rangers boss Danny Rohl has praised Chermiti as ‘special’, so it’s clear that the Gers see potential in him.
The summer deal looks to be the correct one from Everton’s perspective, though.
£8million rising to £10million looks to be a sensational price for Chermiti, who doesn’t look ready for Scottish Premiership action right now.
Chermiti certainly wouldn’t be ready for Premier League games this season, and whether he ever will be is up for debate.
Rangers may turn Chermiti into a star, but Everton were wise to take the money and move on as his struggles in Glasgow continue.
