Everton are reported to be one of several Premier League clubs facing disappointment over an attacking midfielder who’s been on the Toffees’ radar for months.
After a dreadful end to the 2025/26 season, supporters are urging Everton to get busy this summer.
A host of positions need tending to, with Everton’s squad lacking both quality and depth.
If you were Angus Kinnear who would you be going all out for this summer? 💰
One of the big criticisms of the team last season was that there was a lack of creativity in and around the final third.
So a player who can help fix that issue needs to be somewhere near the top of the agenda.
But one player who Everton now look highly unlikely to sign is Ismael Saibari.
Everton kept tabs on Ismael Saibari, but he wants Bayern Munich
TEAMtalk have reported today that several Premier League clubs are set to be left high and dry by Ismael Saibari, who plays for PSV Eindhoven.

Saibari was one of the standout players in the Eredivisie last season, scoring 19 goals and making nine assists in 37 appearances.
With numbers like that, it was inevitable there would be strong interest in him this summer.
And Everton have actually had interest in this player over the last 12 months or so according to TEAMtalk.
However, it seems that any move to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the player could already be a non-starter.
Because Bayern Munich are the player’s preference. Saibari is said to be fully committed to securing what he sees as a ‘dream move’.

There is apparently a growing feeling that an agreement can be reached.
As well as Everton, the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton had all had eyes on the player.
Saibari could have been Everton’s new Ross Barkley
So Everton will need to forget about Saibari as there is seemingly next to no chance of a move. PSV are said to be asking for at least €50 million, so this would perhaps have been quite difficult for Everton to pull off anyway.
And that is a slight shame, because the Morocco international’s output would have been very nice to have.
One of the most impressive parts of Saibari’s game though is his ball-carrying and dribbling.

He likes to pick the ball up and drive with it, using his 6ft 1in frame to fend off challenges in a way that Ross Barkley used to do for Everton.
Saibari has a similar physical profile to the former Toffee, and is capable of scoring from distance and crashing the box just as Barkley did in his earlier playing days.
But it looks as though he’s heading for Bayern, and Everton must now quickly move on.
