Everton remain firmly in the relegation battle after their bruising 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

Everton reside just two points above the bottom three heading into the busy festive period and the fixtures don’t get any easier.

Everton fans wanted Sean Dyche sacked after the United debacle and it’s thought once the Friedkin Group are in post, his future at Goodison Park is likely to be under major scrutiny by the board.

Maurizio Sarri is thought to be in the picture to take over at Everton whilst Graham Potter, Edin Terzic and Sergio Conceicao are also potential candidates.

Whilst that process unfolds behind the scenes, the recruitment team are working hard to identify targets for the January transfer window.

With that said, it’s just come to light that they’re scouting a defender on the continent.

Everton set to rival Man City for Juma Bah

According to The Sun, Everton scouts are tracking Real Valladolid centre-back Juma Bah ahead of the winter transfer window.

Bah, who celebrated his 18th birthday in April, is enjoying a stellar season in La Liga on loan from Sierra Leone side AIK Freetong.

The towering 6ft 5in centre-back is also wanted by reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, so competition for his signature is expected to be rife.

Newcastle and Crystal Palace are also showing an interest in Bah.

Everton should prioritise attackers

Everton are actually well-stocked at the back with Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski, Jake O’Brien and Michael Keane.

So clearly, whilst Bah is evidently a promising talent, he shouldn’t be a priority for Everton this winter as they really need to allocate funds towards a striker and perhaps a winger.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have netted a combined three league goals this season, so that’s an obvious area which needs addressing.
