Everton fans were warned that this summer would be one of rebuilding yet again, with few incomings to satisfy the mass outgoings expected.

Jarrad Branthwaite, Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Amadou Onana were all in the firing line for sacrificial transfers, yet thus far only the latter has departed, and even that felt like one engineered by Sean Dyche himself.

Now buoyed by the huge fee attained from Onana’s move to Aston Villa, Kevin Thelwell can at last press on with his other targets, having already signed three new faces already.

However, this one would surely be the pick of the bunch…

Everton set to sign Jesper Lindstrom contract soon

Having seen plenty of reports emerge linking Everton with a move for Jesper Lindstrom, the latest, once again coming out of Italy, comes from renowned newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.

As an outlet that has offered its expert opinion on this saga a few times, this latest one seems to be by far the most conclusive yet, as they suggest that a deal is all but completed.

First claiming that the player has officially said goodbye to his Napoli teammates, the report then goes on to say how close to a deal the player and the Toffees are.

It reads: ‘Another clue, moreover, came towards the end of yesterday’s last training in Trentino, after the last training session.

‘Jesper finished by pulling together his teammates, who then applauded and hugged him, as if it were a greeting; a thank you for his services. The high with which he had opened the last friendly against Mantua, among other things with the first goal in the Napoli shirt, did not change the final decision.

‘Everton and Lindstrom expected to sign the new contract soon.’

Who is Everton transfer target Jesper Lindstrom?

Lindstrom is a 24-year-old attacking midfielder who has enjoyed a fine career thus far after starting his career with Brondby.

Making a name for himself in his home country, it did not take long for the Bundesliga to come calling, joining Eintracht Frankfurt after enjoying a historic spell in Denmark.

There, he translated his talents into the German game with ease, becoming a mainstay for a side that would go on to win the Europa League in 2022 and being branded an ‘advanced playmaker’ with great ‘passing, vision, creativity’ and more by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig.

Growing in stature and technical excellence, his finest year came in his final one in the Bundesliga, recording seven goals and four assists and earning himself a move to Serie A champions Napoli.

However, inexplicably starved of starts under an ever-changing leadership last campaign, his career has stalled. Now, it’s time for him to reignite things at Everton to justify their £21m acquisition.
