Last week, the football world was left stunned by the scenes in the AFCON final between Senegal and Morocco.
When all was said and done, it was Senegal who were crowned champions after they beat their opponents 1-0 in extra-time.
Pape Gueye scored the winning goal but the game was completely marred after Senegal players walked off the pitch over a decision at the end of normal time.
What concerns do you have about Iliman Ndiaye leaving Everton in the summer?😫
Surely Everton must hand him a new contract!
Before that, Ismaila Sarr thought he’d scored a late winner, only for referee Jean-Jacques Ndala to rule the goal out after judging Abdoulaye Seck had fouled Achraf Hakimi in the build-up.
Then, El Hadji Malick Diouf’s challenge on Brahim Díaz was penalised by VAR, leading to a walk-off by Senegal ordered by their head coach Pape Thiaw.
The decision even prompted unsavoury scenes involving some Senegal fans in the stands.
After a 14-minute delay, the players came back out, and the penalty Morocco had been awarded was missed by Brahim Diaz.
Yesterday, the CAF’s Disciplinary Committee heard the case and will soon deliver a verdict.
Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye questioned after AFCON debacle

The Senegalese FA last night confirmed that it had appeared before the Disciplinary Jury of the Confederation of African Football.
The hearing came about after reports from match officials after the AFCON final, and also protests from Morocco.
Senegal said they were represented by the Secretary General. But they also said a number of players spoke at the hearing.
One of those players included Everton player Iliman Ndiaye, who has this week been linked with Manchester United.
Ismaïla Sarr was also spoken to, as was manager Thiaw.
It is expected that a verdict will be reached by the Disciplinary Jury in the next 48 hours.
Ndiaye and Gueye set for World Cup participation
It is expected that there will be sanctions for Senegal after what happened in the final in Rabat.
There have been some suggestions that Senegal’s place at the 2026 World Cup could be in jeopardy.
But it is thought that punishments will be restricted to African competitions, rather than the World Cup, according to L’Equipe.

So the likelihood is that Everton duo Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye will be both heading to North America this summer as normal.
Senegal are in a group with France, Norway and an as yet unconfirmed nation.
In terms of the notion that Senegal could be stripped of their AFCON title, that is unlikely since the players did return to the game and the match reached its conclusion.
