Everton star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall suggests new rule would make football better

Everton fans will surely agree that football is a lot less entertaining than it used to be.

Lengthy stoppages caused by the VAR officials and broadcasters setting antisocial kick-off times which impact matchday traditions are arguably two of the largest problems right now, while a number of games are simply not entertaining enough, perhaps due to fixture congestion burning players out.

When hosting a Q&A (question and answer) session on Reddit, an interesting idea was backed by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall which he feels could make football more exciting.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall supports the idea of no points for 0-0 draws

When asked if there are any rule changes he would introduce to football, the Everton No.22 said: “There could be a lot here!

“I’ve seen someone say about 0-0 draws, neither team should get a point. I don’t know if I necessarily agree with that, but I actually don’t mind the idea because it encourages exciting games. It would stop people maybe playing for 0-0 draws which, for the neutrals and for the fans across the world, is amazing because you get to see more goals and more excitement.

“So maybe something like that, nobody gets rewarded if it’s a 0-0 draw, because at the end of the day we are in the entertainment business, we’re trying to put a show on for people around the world. So, 0-0 draws maybe nobody gets a point.”

The Toffees have recorded two 0-0 draws this season, one against Aston Villa at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and the other against Burnley at Turf Moor.

So, in fairness to David Moyes, he has largely tried to make games entertaining for Everton fans this term.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is one of the best signings Everton have made in years, isn’t he?!

Not only does he have great final third output, but he's got the work-rate to boot 🔥

Whether it be this rule or another change, it certainly feels as if the decision makers in football need to act at some point, as many begin to fall out of love with the sport in its current state.
