Amadou Onana was praised for a ‘dominant’ performance in Everton’s win over Burnley this evening.
The Belgian returned to the starting line-up for the first time since Everton’s trip to Crystal Palace last month, having been brought on at half-time at the weekend after recovering from a calf injury.
Amadou Onana took less than 20 minutes to open the scoring at Turf Moor, nodding in his second goal in four games from Dwight McNeil’s corner.
The midfielder took the place of the suspended Idrissa Gana Gueye in the line-up and he certainly proved himself with another stellar performance.
Onana made 26 accurate passes, won five ground duels and six aerials, as well as making three clearances and two tackles.
After another inspiring performance in an Everton shirt, Liverpool Echo journalist Chris Beesley hailed the 22-year-old for his dominance.
After awarding Onana an 8/10 rating, Beesley wrote: “Rose majestically to head in his second goal in six weeks against Burnley, rising above home keeper James Trafford to nod in Dwight McNeil’s corner kick, he was dominant and dynamic in the centre of the park.”

The praise comes after an impressive first half of the campaign for the former Lille man, with Onana making the third-most tackles in the squad (32), the second-most long balls from an outfield player (29) and the second-most accurate short passes (391).
Who fits into Everton’s midfield three now?
Idrissa Gueye will return to action for Everton’s upcoming Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Fulham, though Abdoulaye Doucoure‘s half-time substitution adds another concern to the midfield.
It took Sean Dyche a very long time to find his right midfield three, and ever since there seems to have been various injuries that has meant the manager has had to keep chopping and changing.
But thankfully, the likes of Onana, Gueye, Garner and Doucoure have all been in brilliant form. Each one of them have massively contributed to some brilliant results in recent weeks and have played a key role in the club’s revival.
